Disgusted with my teeth

    Basically, my teeth are fcuked.

I've let dental care go to the wayside during my time studying (one year left) and my teeth are in a jock now. I went back to my dentist a month ago and she poked around my mouth and just kind of sighed in exasperation. So far, she's identified that-

I need a pile of fillings, most of them deep, in most of my upper back teeth on the left hand side, one of the teeth (very back tooth on the upper left hand side, the one just after the wisdom tooth) already had a filling in it and somehow managed to continue decaying underneath (I've had that filling since I was about 12 though), so basically there's hardly any tooth left. The dentist took the old filling out and put another filling in, just a temporary one, because she said she needed to attend to another tooth that looked as though it was on the verge of root canal, so she filled that tooth and left the decayed one before fitting a temporary filling on it until my next appt (Sept. 8th)

She said that if there's not enough tooth left to fill, she's gonna have to take out what's there, and I am absolutley mortified. I'm 19 and I'm going to be missing a tooth because I'm a lazy bítch. I don't even know what my options are- can you get a prosthetic tooth fitted or something, I really am desperate.

On top of that, I need two fillings on the bottom left hand side, and probably 2 more on the right, upper and lower. I've already had root canal on the upper right, and don't fancy getting it again. I'm going to have a head full of metal and I'm 19, sorry I just can't get over having such shít teeth at such a young age. Clearly, I'll be taking much, much, MUCH better care of my teeth from now on, although I currently have to be gentle with the upper lhs, because she said flossing could dislodge the temporary filling, it's fragile because there's so little tooth there.

I'm not even sure why I'm posting, mainly just to warn other young people that your teeth CAN and clearly DO go to bits at a young age. Is there anything that can be done about my upper lhs back tooth that anyone's heard of happening? The dentist didn't seem sure if there was enough tooth for a crown.

OP just let the dentist do what they need to do to get it sorted. I've had a couple of fillings and a root canal but am getting some extensive work done and my top front teeth. just get a treatment plan together and get it sorted!
Honestly feeling that you have good teeth is the best feeling in the world!!

ok i totally understand where you are coming from, i have lost my two front teeth to a accident, and about 4 others to braces (orthodonist was ****e) and just lazyness, im only 21, but the way i look at it that i keep up with the dentist now and any problems are caught early, i am also facing oral surgery for the third time, not a fun thing

edited to add that i had a tooth turn to bone aswell (dont know the proper term)

Lots of people suffer from having bad teeth for various reasons. Modern dental treatment can fix your bad teeth and replace missing teeth, all painlessly. However this will take time and resources. Once everything is fixed you will have to look after everything carefully and concentrate on prevention.

OP you are not the first or last young person to have bad teeth. Dont worry too much it can all be fixed. Just stick to your course of treatment and follow your dentists advice.
