    Hi guys,

I couldn't see any thread on the topic, and I need some advice:I have suddenly discovered that I need an acoustic bass. Now. I wannit.

Can you recommend one with a decent sound for up to €400? or should I push to 500 (I'd rather not)?

I had a look at thomann, x-music, walton's, but I'm not too sure. I like Takamines, so I might go for one of those.

(I' m going to try and find a couple of musos for acoustic jams soon, and when I'm jammin I always feel like playing the bass line . Might as well play it on a bass.)

I'm off home now, but I'll pick up on this tomorrow.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

I picked up an Ibanez AEB8E for £200 last year.

I think it plays really well, I don't have a lot of experience with different acoustic pre-amps but I was able to get a lovely tone out of a fender bassman 100 and when recording to a laptop through a POD.

The built-in tuner and the XLR and 1/4" outputs are great features.

The only weird bit was getting used to not having a pickup to rest my thumb on while I played!

I've been trying to get a acoustic bass for jamming for ages. Heading to Germany to play tons over there and the Warwick Alien is by far the best one avalible, but 1300 euro!!

After much searching I found in the last place i thought i'd fine one, X-Music. I played the 2 Tanglewood basses they have. One i think was around 800 the other was 450. There was not tags on either and I played both for ages. Turned out the tone on the 450 was much nicer and I prefered the finish on it to. for Jammin i could not have been happier with it. I set it up myself when i got home. Fantasic buy.

Tanglewood TW155a, they dont have any cases for it which was the only poor point.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

A Warwick alien? I'd never heard of it before, but it looks like it'd be quite wasted on me I'm afraid.

For some reason I never really trusted Tanglewood guitars, but if you tried them and thought they were ok I might check them out in X-Music.

    Cheers.

--- oh yeah I know why I don't trust Tanglewood. I bought a cheap T guitar a few years back and man was it crap. But then again it was cheap...
