I just sent him a polite email asking if he was acting in ignorance or in spite of mandate.

Apparently it wasn't in the Union policy document. Anyone know if that;s public domain, and where one could get a copy of it if it is?

Could someone please give me more information on our 'esteemed UCDSU President' before I write an response to him.

Who is he? What's he doing at UCD? What has he accomplished in his time as president? Why is he even president etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,674 ✭✭✭Mardy Bum

He was in charge of ents last year. Done an alright job bar the never ending appearances of UCDs token bands.

If you are unable to pay these charges, they will be waived by an application to the Student Welfare Fund

what are the requirements for a successful application?

wow, the length of time that would take it would be easier to get a minumum wage job and work the few hours required to pay for visiting the health centre.

Especially for a student who would spend most of their free time studying for exams, their relaxation time will now be spent battling with this system.

Advice from an old timer. Don't get involved. Don't bother trying to talk to SU reps, presidents, and other assorted wasters. They have their eyes fixed a five years ahead at their run for a council seat.

It's all a joke, a lie and a waste of time. The University gave up on a model where a Union mattered around the turn of the century folks. What we have now is something different and one that can function with a pretend-union that cannot be gotten rid of. The most effective model is everybody putting on a show: the sabbats put on a show, we give out and put on a show from time to time, and its all just a show. I've not seen one bit of tangible change in my time here.

Hit the library. Do what you are supposed to do and try to do it within the retarded confines they will set for you. But just don't get sucked in. Those people are vampires.

I agree, what is happening now was decided a long time ago and the SU were probably not informed until months after. I just feel very sorry for the part of the student body who struggle to make ends meet trying to do what they are supposed to do i.e studying.

Bury your head in the sand & take everything that's thrown at you - never try to improve the conditions you operate in. Great.

I wouldn't dare get involved, but you can find pleasure in hastling them around campus. Challenge every point they make. You'll hear bull**** beyond your wildest dreams that will provide hours of entertainment then and afterwards. Good fun.
You'll also learn to recognise the face of a liar.

I heard he is a bigwig in Ogra Fianna Fail on campus. All of the SU are bigwigs in Fianna Fail and Fine Gael. Both parties who want to reintroduce 3rd level fees.

didn't Donnacha promise to leave FF at the debate?
    has he done this?

Redmond was in Fianna Fail/KBC. I don't think he is now, although all the KBCers came out to campaign for him.

The only time the KBC make any appearance vis-a-vis the Union is election time. IIRC two former KBC Women's Officers were "no confidenced", while the last KBC President was well known for protecting his own reputation, including the cancellation of two meetings with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in January 2006. Subsquently, he failed to tell the Council of 2005/2006 about the deadline for USI Motions until 1 hour before the appointed time, before which, he took off to Ennis for Ogra's National Conference. This ensured that he didnt have to publicly criticise and facet of Government which may be FF run, or frequented.

I have heard all sorts of stories, including primary elections for who will run for the Education Office as the KBC Candidate. It was more or less a KBC divine right to that office until Abey Campbell took them out.

The KBC has never produced too many decent SU Officers, and has produced one or two Turkeys.

You what? Abey Campbell took them out? Nothing to do with the Campaign for Free Education?

In 2003 The president was Labour (and trounced Abey, managing to get 44% in a 4 horse race), the deputy president was an anarchist whilst the Education officer was a socialist.

They're some shower of knob heads.:D
It reminds me of the video on AH regarding the FF Árd Fheis, with all the retarded FF Supporters standing behind David Davin Power. My God, they must be the most deluded sychophantic, selfish rats I've ever come across. KBC should be renamed the Hitler Youth and the UCDSU be called the Leibstandarte Hugh Brady!;)
