Ok ladies, I want to buy my girlfriend of 8 years a ring. I've about €200-€300 to spend but I haven't the slightest clue where to start. I know she likes yellow gold but that's about it. I've never actually bought her 'proper' jewellery before.

I'm in the Dublin area so any advice or good sales would be hugely appreciated!!

I used to have to do this in work.

    1. What ring size is she? note the sizes are different for the different fingers, if you don't know the size just bring one of her other rings with you.

    2. Do you know what kind of style ring she likes? Big, small, plain, fancy? Have a look at what he normally wears and get something similar or bring one of her friends with you, she would probably know her style and if it's a surprise make sure it's a friend you can trust not to tell her.

Finally it would be a good idea to hold onto the recept, just in case.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
