im having difficulty with my 18-135 lens .i think i have narrowed the problem down to the lens itself because the 80-200 lens seems to be working ok on the body. i dont have a second body to test the 18-135 lens.

the body seems to be acting as if there is no lens attached.
anyone have this type of problem

Hi, I had a similar problem with same lens and found that if I rotated the lens a little on the camera it worked perfectly. Press in the lens release button and rotate the lens back and forth a little then seat it in correct location and see if it works.
    Regards,
    John

you probably have already checked this, but if you have a digital body(you didn't say what camera) make sure the aperture ring is locked in the smallest setting.

try cleaning the contacts on the lens
some special contact cleaning fluid on a cloth (not on the contacts) ideal, if not at hand use a pencil rubber and rub them gently

I have the same problem now and again and twisting the lens always sorts it.

    No problem with other lens
