Pickguard Wiring

Where could I get the nut on my neck done and for the pickguard to be loaded at a resonable price.

I have all the electrics(apart from the two, three way coil tap switches(Where can I buy them???)) just looking for somebody to solder them together.

Reason being that the two three way switches have a coil tap function.

I know this sounds long winded but This is my first restoration project and I am at the last hurdle and am just looking to get it done.

Thanks for the help in advance

    Gaz

The switches don't have the coil tap function, they just function as a switch. It's only possible to do coil tapping on pickups with 4 conductor wires. Do your pickups have these?

The pickups are original and only have two conductor wires. I brought the wiring diagram to a dublin guitar workshop(Won't mention names) to see if I could buy the switches and I showed the tech the diagram and he said ooh the switches you need are these I have them but I could wire it up for you and they are coil tap functions thats why this switch won't work(I showed him a standard epiphone three way switch with three pins on the bottom)

I would like to wire it up but I don't know where to buy the correct switches. I have the body of the guitar back from a spray shop and it's fantastic the finish is awesome and the neck nut needs to be done and the wiring and I am ready to go.

    Any help

Can you post the wiring diagram?
    What guitar is it?
What pickup types are you loading?

If your pickups only have two conductors you can't coil tap them and so there is no need for the switch.
A normal pick up selector switch, pots (volume and tone), jack, wire and solder is all you need.

Three way stiches are normally used for tapping, normal and series parallel switching for humbuckers, neither of which you can do with a two wire pickup.

Guitar is a fender Lead II..

There is two pickup selector switches as standard if you do an image search you will see.

I will post the wiring diagram.. http://jfetdel.free.fr/lead/download...schematics.pdf

I am puzzeled by this one, If anyone lives in south Dublin and wants a nixer ;)

There's a "computer says no" error 404 on that link.

According to what I've read on the Lead II you need two switches:
One single pole, double throw with centre position on like the Switchcraft switch ued in a Les Paul. You'll need a shallower switch than that though I'd say. The switch you want will be described as DP/DT On - On - On

The other is a DP/DT, to switch the two pickups in and out of phase. This have no affect when either pickup is selected individually and only works when the pickup selector is in the centre position with both pickups on. It'll be marked DP/DT On - On

These can be gotten @ www.allparts.uk.com. Maplins have them too but they tend to be crappy quality.

    Where did you look?

    http://www.allparts.uk.com/online-shop/allparts-guitar-amp-parts/electronics/switches/mini-switch-dpdt-on-on-2-p-4055.html

Maplins also have them, but as I said they're pretty crappy quality.

Is it that you are looking for an exact match, cosmetically, to the originals?

I checked maplins as I would have been able to pick them up in the shop today.

But looks like I will be going with all parts..

Any thoughts on the nut job(excuse the pun)
