No pre-clearance at Shannon for Aer Lingus passengers

I've just read that Aerlingus passengers will not go through immigration pre-clearnance at Shannon until next year. They state they are waiting to align both Dublin & Shannon for US flight for all 3 US border clearance (immigration, customs & agriculture).
I always found (as others did as well) that you are cleared easy in Shannon by the US border gaurds ..... but that clearing immirgartion is the US can be a different experience (ie. more intense and nervous). May I stress that I have always been a legite visitor or on business trips when I have traveled to the US.

I now have a business/visitor visa for the US due to being stopped and interigated arriving in the US a few years back ... it was a horrible experience. Due to having to travel to the US up to 6 times a year on business at one stage, I had to get a business/visitor visa.
Since getting it I have always travelled through shannon and there is no hassle at all. We plan to take a family trip to the states this winter and we have booked from shannon. Now since reading the news this week, I am anxious about getting hassle when clearing immigration in the US ... I know I shouldn't as I have a visa.

Does anyone else travel on a business/visitor visa (B-1), and if so do you get any hassle at the US side?

Also I take it I don't need to complete the ESTA on-line registration as i have a visa?
    Thanks.

If you are not happy with EI's 1 year delay in using this, then use another airline.

    Or better still use BA

    Dear Black Briar,

We booked (and paid) Aerlingus 6 months when they used the Shannon pre-clearance facility ... it is only in the past few weeks they announced that their passengers would not go though pre-clearance at Shannon.

BA do not fly direct from shannon to the US

The BA business class service from London city will make a stop in SHN from the 29th of september to re-fuel/pax clear immigration but I dont think they will let pax join the flight in SHN.

Can any one confirm? its not available to book on ba.com anyways

Passengers can't join at Shannon, it's just a stop over.

Juran, pre-clearance would never be guaranteed anyway for a variety of operational reasons. Personally, I've had little or no problem entering the US in the past via the airports on that side - no difference than doing it here, really (apart from the relative speed).

Visa holders do not need to do the ESTA.
