Mount gambier is a nice town about 1hr flight on Rex.com.au
Good for a weekend break, can visit wineries and they have a massive blue lake can walk around.

Not much else there, but I thought it was a nice chill out town, Tassie is another option

The also have a cool Irish pub there.

We actually spent the night in it. After an all day drinking session and a lock in the owner let us sleep up stairs. Sound guy, and the food is good.

Was a nice little town to see as well.

Great Ocean Road Trip is great for a weekend .

My wife and I do a trip for you honeymoonthere and loved it .

We drove to Geelong and then down the Great Ocean Raod as far as The 12 apostles

    Stopping off at
Located at Cape Otway, around thirty minutes drive from the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk, the Cape Otway Lightstation is the oldest surviving light station on the mainland of Australia.

Some great places to stay there as well Click Here

    Then drive back to

    Queenscliff

Canberra is NOT hot!, you'll have to fly north if you want hot!
