Is my iMac overheating?

I had my iMAc on for about 12 hours today and the temp was about 53-54C. Is this too hot? What's the ideal operating temp for the iMac. I understand the HD can fail if it gets too hot.

I have SMC Fan Control and iStat installed.

Are the fans running? Which component is 53C, the processor?

This is what iStat reports my (fairly idle) iMac temperatures as:

    HD - 47C
    CPU - 42C
    Ambient - 24C
    GPU Diode - 53C
    HD Bay - 43C
    Mem controller - 43C
    Optical drive - 32C

    The fans are running fine.

The airport card is normally hottest followed by the processor.

How hot is the hard disk? As long as it's not in the 60s all the time it should be okay. My old hard disk hovered around 52C even while fairly idle. It died a couple of weeks ago though. :D New one is a good bit cooler as you can see. Tbh, hot or not, hdds can fail for any reason.

Overall though I'd only get worried if the fans kept kicking in full blast all the time.

No it only reaches the sixties when it's been on for hours and hours. I'll keep an eye on it, cheers.
