    September the 18th!

Maybe longer, I just updated my FTV card in a Sky box and when I put it back in my receiver which is capable of reading the entitlements i.e. expiry date, that was the date given, I'll try it again in a fortnight and see if there's an extension on that date.

At least those of us who still use the FTV cards will have a bit of prewarning as to when they'll become another bookmark

Well its slightly longer than I thought. I thought they would expire by the end of August.

Any news of Fiver or Five USA going FTA. Freeview are launching HD pretty soon AFAIK, so that might mean C4HD may go FTA soon too.

Are sky doing v3 freesat cards yet ?

Everytime I go on their freesat site lately I get redirected to the main one ?

Presumably v1 and v2 cards will still be useable for regionalising EPG slots 101-103

My cards have updated to 20 sept. One of these is a "replaced" card for a white one.

So, one of your old blue ones has received EMM's even after you replaced it with a white one??

Yes. It's working away perfect. It updated this week from 12/8/09 to 20/9/09 on all sectors. The card won't work in a sky box. Tried itlast week and it says "incorrect card for this box". But it works perfect in my TM.

Wow, I'm flabergastered! I'd never have thought they would keep updating them, in fact I thought the opposite, that's why I blocked all the EMM's for the cards I'm using, think I'll undo that that and give it a try!

I'm running Gbo*x. As soon as blue card was removed for sky, I put it in TM. I put ON update this week because it is usually slow in gb*x and it worked fine.
You've got nothing to lose as it'll die anyday soon. If I can help more contact me.

    Thats Great, Thanks
even though i am not using it anymore (My parents are utilising the old card i had)

do you still have to stick it in a sky box for a few hours to update?

Will there be any channels it's needed for by October other than Sky3?

I use it mostly for Channel 4HD and Fiver, Five USA (and the +1's), I keep hearing rumours that these are going FTA but we'll see...

It's also good for Non Sky Setanta subscribers to know how long their Blue card will last as that is a whole other issue.

    .

They are already FTV (Free - to - view with no subscription required) but not FTA (Free - to air i.e. unencrypted) i.e. at present you can pick them up with a FSFS FTV card as I do. If they go FTA as Five has done they will be unencrypted altogether and be picked up by any FTA box.

    They are already FTV

Yes, yes, that was a typo, corrected original post.

    Just saw this:
    http://www.satshop.co.uk/section38/product318/Sky-freesat-card.html

Which hopefully means they'll be popping up on fleabay too, would be nice to get one before the Blues come to an end so I don't loose my beloved Channel 4 HD :D

Fiver, Fiver+1, Five USA, Five USA+1, Channel 4 HD and Sky 3 are the channels you get extra on top of the normal FTA channels. You will also get a weeks EPG for Five instead of the 'normal' now and next, you will also get to see all programmes on channel Five as sometimes they are restricted.

Interesting link there, thanks for that, first time I've seen Sky actually put a date down for the proposed end of roll out.

Recently I installed a sky box to receive the fta channels, and Iv loaded up the English epg for all the bbc's, itv's etc. Iv also got five installed in other channels. Yesterday I got my hands on the now old sky blue viewing card and I was wondering if I put this into my sky box wil i get five on the epg, fiver and sky3? Or would it load up the Irish epg as its an Irish card?

Obviously depends on what region the card came from, is it a UK or an Irish card?

The new £20 FTV cards are really only going to give a couple of extra Five channels, Setanta News (likely to go bust) and Sky3. In exchange you have to give email & phone as well as address and Sky get permision to Spam you and give the info to anyone they want to Spam you.

The existing cards appear to cease working end Sept 2009.

With C4 and Five now FTA there isn't really any point to them. BBC and ITV gone FTA long ago.

Is Setanta Sports News not gone already? I can't get it on my system.

The point is that Sky claim the FTV card is needed for C4, Five, Setanta News and ITV!

    This is obviously nonsense.
