I have applied for a grant and am within the income limits - my local county council are not starting to process applications until the first week of September :( I have paid the €157.50 but do not have the €1500! Apparently I will be registered provisionally - does anyone know what this means - will I be given temporary student card? Can I get access to library etc..?

According to the Welcome booklet, by paying the student levy you are registered provisionally until October 15, at which time if the grant hasn't come through you must pay the registration fee yourself.

I think we can still get our student cards though. Or at least I can't find anything online or in the documentation to indicate we can't. I emailed the Student Desk asking for clarification on this but never got a response.

Are there any existing students/grant holders who can shed some light on this?
