Buying a car in a garage

I've only ever bought cars from private individuals before, people I can trust etc etc and I've always haggled. What's the deal with buying from a dealer? can I trust them? can I haggle? are they overpriced? Any advice appreciated.

You find a car, you decide yourself if they are trustworthy, you can haggle on price.

Unless you can show a car you're interested in the question is a bit silly tbh. You'll just get sweeping generalisations and all that. You'll get some shady dealers but the vast majority are good. Price is up to you really if you think it's worth paying or not

Choose the dealer wisely, some are very trustworthy.

And expect to pay and extra 10% to 30% for the piece of mind the dealer is meant to give you. Theyre all out to make money.

You might get a discount with cash feel free to haggle, they know their margins and won't let the car go unless they are making a good few quid on it. If you don't buy it somebody else probably will eventually if its well priced.

Thanks folks, I'm looking for a Corolla hatchback, 05/06 for about 10k, not too heavy on the milage, seems like they are about 10,500 in a dealer.
