Portable DVD for the car?

I have a Sony DVP-FX875 bought for the kids in the car. It has a car mounting kit of the head rest but tbh after a year its just annoying me now. So I'm looking for suggestions for something a bit more practical. It plays everything no problem with a decent enough IQ and SQ. But the problems with this one include...

Buttons not back lit, so can't see it in the dark. Theres very little tactile difference between the buttons so say volume and FF. Buttons are not obvious for kids. The remote isnt much better. Power button is not obvious either, tricky to reach when mounted in car. Because of the battery problem you need to hit the power button a lot.

Battery can't be connected when on the head rest. So it needs a power lead to the cig socket the whole time. This has to be the most annoying thing about it. 6hr battery life, but no battery in the car. Turn off the car, and it stops. Add to that the DC socket isnt very tight, the least tug on the cable and it pops out and the DVD stops.

I think myself its just not intended for kids. Or for car use despite the mounting plate. Perhaps I should have just gone for a cheaper one more aimed at kids.

    Any suggestions for a replacement?
