Questions on Other Channels and TeleText

Hi,

This seems like a friendly place to ask a question. I just got SKY installed at the weekend.

1. How do I make the other channels (BBC ITV FIVE BBC HD etc.) appear with all channels? It's a real pain in the arse having to navigate the stupid menu system if I want to change channel to BBC1 I have to navigate to SERVICES -> OPTIONS -> OTHER CHANNELS -> THEN CLICK AGAIN TO SELECT OTHER CHANNELS LIST -> Click again to select the channel.

2. TeleText is not available on any channel. When I press the text button it tells me to first press TV button. When I do that it tells me the service is not available.

3. Is there a channel number list avaiable somewhere for Ireland? e.g. RTE = 101, RTE2 = 102, BBC = ?

No way around this I'm afraid with a ROI card.

Most of the channels on satellite don't broadcast teletext these days.

Unfortunately, you can't add channels to the EPG.
There is not much difference between BBC NI and the other BBC variations so I don't think thats a big problem.
141 - BBC1 NI
142 - BBC2 NI

The ITV family and FIVE are only availible through the Other channels list if you have a Irish viewing card.

Pretty poor if you ask me that you cannot easily get the other channels added - can't even type in a number to get to them.

No teletext? schoolboy error.

Thanks for the channel listing will print it out and stick on the wall beside the TV. So much for the sky tv guide.

you can put most used channels (50) into favorites that way you can scroll through them.

you will get to know the most used numbers after a week or 2.

John mac - sorry for being a dimwit but i don't know how to add other channels to favourites.

I can find other channels and favourites but the only option I get on each other channel is to delete it (yellow button) - this is on a SKY+ HD box menu which is different menu structure than SKY+ box menu.

How do I add the other channels to favourites?

You can't.

The favourites function is only for channels on the EPG.

yep so you are stuck with

Services, 9, right, right, right, right, down, select. (for the first other channel)

unless there is a quicker way to get to the menu?

Slightly different on the new Sky+HD EPG...

...Services, dwn arrow, 5, dwn arrow. (AFAICR)

thanks for that i have been doing it the other way since the new epg came out.

at least i can program my logitech with one 'other channel' now.
