I graduated from Film and TV in GMIT, Galway and applied for a few different jobs around the place (Abu Media, ROs na Run, TG4 etc.) I didn't get any of them so I figured I'd go on the dole for a few months and start doing some work for free in order to bulk up my CV and then try again.

I applied for the dole a good few weeks ago, and as I was running low on funds, I applied for the supplement. From the supplement, I've been paying my rent, paying for food but at the same time managing to save some of it and put it into my bank account. I have a meeting with the investigators this wednesday and I understand that I have to bring a bank statement with me?

I'm just afraid now that they'll see the money I've saved up (I have about €1,500 in total) and think that I don't need it. Do you think this will be the case? If that does happen and I don't get the dole, what's the story with the supplement I've been recieving? Will I have to pay that off?

I'm just worried cuz if I don't get it, I'll have to move home, and home is in the middle of the countryside where there are ZERO job opertunities.

i'm not completely certain but i think you have to have 10,000 or over in your account, and then you can still get the dole but it's reduced slightly, i dont know by how much, so i'd say you'll be fine with only 1,500:)

If that's the case then i'm not as worried as I was an hour ago, thanks for that! Can anyone else confirm this?

You can have up to €20,000 in your savings account and nothing to worry about: http://www.welfare.ie/EN/OperationalGuidelines/Pages/meansassess.aspx#sect2
