Just six days ahead of the start of a new season, no British broadcaster has secured the rights to screen Spanish football. BSkyB's deal to show La Liga expired in the summer and the satellite giant is reluctant to meet the £15m-a-season asking price. (The Sunday Times)

    £15m a year is buttons.
Frankly I dont know what Sky are up to especially with this promising to be a superb season of football.
Real Madrid breaking the bank and Barca after winning the treble.
Sky's Sports lineup compared to some of the other overseas providers is threadbare .

Amazing stuff. If ESPN buy the rights they'll have to launch another channel as it will clash with Serie A and Bundesliga.

Thankfully it seems ESPN don't have the rights.

    Saturday Sky Sports 2:
    Real Madrid v Deportivo 18:55
    Zaragoza v Tenerife 21:00

    Sunday Sky Sports 2:
    Valencia v Sevilla 18:00

The names of the teams were up on the EPG but its just listed as 'Live Football' now

If this is the case, I'll need to do another upgrade to get Sky Sports 2:mad:

how about rte stop licking english footballs hole and show some other european leagues?

Because it won't make money? No Irish players in it, small fanbase ect. You get plenty of Champions League for European teams. RTÉ show a lot of live football for a FTA broadcaster.

And to the above poster-15 million isn't buttons. The last deal was 10m. Between ads and subscribers who'd ditch it if it wasn't on I doubt that price is worth it.

Sky Sports has signed a new deal for exclusive live coverage of La Liga for the next three seasons.

The new deal for Spain's top league covers the 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons and Sky Sports will broadcast at least two live matches from each weekend of the season.

The coverage begins this Saturday with Real Madrid v Deportivo from 7.00pm on Sky Sports 2, followed by two newly promoted sides; Real Zaragoza v Tenerife, at 9.00pm.

Sunday's live game will be Valencia v Sevilla from 6pm on Sky Sports 2, while champions Barcelona v Sporting Gijon is available on Bank Holiday Monday from 8pm on Sky Sports 1 (the first half is available via the red button).

Revista de La Liga, Sky Sports' weekly Spanish football magazine show, also returns on Tuesday September 1 at 5.30pm on Sky Sports1
