    Hi
I have a Topper sailing dinghy for the kids but it is fairly badly damagae and the turn of the transon with a lot of heavy rubbing off rocks and a small tear.
I have heard they are very easily to repair but how?
Is there a product you can melt on to the parts that need to be repaired?
    Any help appreciated.

Dunno where you heard they were easy repair, i used to sail one of these when i was younger, i guy i raced with cracked his bow and he was told it wasn't repairable. It may be possible now but it being a moulded plastic i dunno. It would be like trying to repair a whole in the bottom of a coke bottle.

Hi Connel, Talk to Rupert at Dunmore leisure. He is a Topper agent and will tell you if it can be done. You can certainly get a powder for the Laser Pico that can be heated and melts into the repair. http://www.dunmoreadventure.com/component/option,com_contact/Itemid,3/

Used to do the repairs for a sailing school where "Topper" were the prefferred choice for the kids, and man, those kids could wreck iron!
The first "Toppers" were fibreglass which were done using standard fibreglass repair procedures, regarding the later plastic versions I would do all repairs with a heat gun with a plastic welding attachment, a hot knife and the approporiate polypropylene plastic filler.
When we ran out of filler, which due to the extent of repairs needed was quiet often as I had to keep a certain number of boats on the water at all times, I'd keep a stash of different coloured polypropylene rope to use as filler rods to get me out of a tight spot and since the polymer make up is the same it worked quiet well.
If it is an older boat go for it, it just takes the right measure of heat and a bit of skill to melt, knit and re-shape the plastic. If it is a newish boat I hand it in for repair, as a blatant DIY can seriously de-value the boat, Toppers are one of the few that seem to maintain their re-sale value.
