Hey guys, I want to upgrade my mic for podcasting, but I'm not sure if I can plug this one into a mixer:

Basically I want to plug this into a mixer which will be connected to a Macbook White. Someone told me I might need extra sound cards due to it being large diaphragm.

Anyone know if I can just plug it in to a small mixer connected to a Macbook White?

    Thanks folks!

Yeah you can plug that into a mixer for sure, you just need a XLR cable. That mic is a condenser, so it will need phantom power, check if your mixer has phantom power. If it does it will work fine...unless it's a macbook black.
    ...just kiddin'

If you're only purpose is for podcasts, I would probably suggest one of these:
    Snowball
    Snowflake
You won't need a mixer or soundcard, just connects via USB.

Thanks for those recommendations but I was hoping for a microphone that will go through the mixer. Can you tell me if this mixer has phantom power?

    Thanks

Sadly doesn't look like it :(

    "Behringer Xenyx 502 - 5-channel mixer, 1 mic input without phantom power, 2-band EQ, 2 stereo line inputs, master out (jack), 2-track in/out, headphones out, external power supply. Dimensions: 47/37 x 134 x 177mm. Weight 0.55kg "

Should work fine if you get THIS with it.

Thanks for all the help guys. I've decided on a set up. I'm not sure it will work right though. Basically, I wanted to know if this USB cable will be able to connect this microphone to my computer?

Also, would it be long enough to use with this stand?

Thanks for all the help, much appreciated!

That particular cable will NOT be able to connect with the microphone you also listed as the cable is just an extension cable.

THIS cable will do the job without the need for additional cables.

As the cable I listed is a 5m cable it should be ok with that stand, though I don't see any dimensions listed on the site. It looks like the stand comes with an XLR cable (which you won't need with that microphone you mentioned), already running through its chassis. You should be ok just working around it though.

That USB cable will work, considering a USB cable is included with the mic, an extension is what you're looking for...
