.....as title says - is 159k miles too much for a 94 Celica? I need a new car, and found one I like!

I know Toyota engines are good, but is this pushing it?

    Just passed NCT btw......

am I mad to consider buying?

    Not at all.

159k is about 12k miles per year on on a 15 year old car, so it's quite average mileage.

Considering average mileage is set around 15,000 miles, thats more than better man.

Not bad at all, just get the main stuff sorted.

Was the clutch done, any work done on the engine.

If that all good, you'll have a cool retro classic.

Should be fine. I find one of Toyotas main weak spots is the suspension so make sure you give that a good look over. Make sure the bushings are ok. Make sure the car is pulling straight when acceleration and braking.

ACtually yeah, bring it for a drive, and see how hard the suspension is, I've had experiences in Celicas, all very hard suspensions :S

Cheers guys! I will defo take it for a spin before buying - dont have a mechanic to bring so hopefully it'll be ok.

Dealer sale too, so hopefully some peace of mind.

Am seeing it tomorrow - so fingers crossed!

If you're doing it with cash, see can you get a bit knocked off, simply cos it's totally cash, that and a squeeze of the *ahem* top parts will get you a bit off ;)

as said, them old toyotas are great for mileage. i had a 95 carina and sold it with 245k, the body was getting a bit shook, but the engine was bulletproof! with nct you should have no worries, ensure the timing belt was done at the right time!

....well, with 154k on my '93 968, it should be a walk in the park for a Celica tbh. If it's been anyway reasonably minded over the years, it shouldn't be an issue at all.

shouldn't be a problem, make sure it's not due a timing belt or water pump.
