Gillette blades: Mach 3 versus Mach 3 Power

I was in Tesco this afternoon and saw the Mach 3 razor with 2 blades for €7 and the Mach3 Power razor with 1 blade for €17.

Am I mistaken in thinking that the only difference between both products is that the Mach 3 Power razor is battery powered, while the Mach 3 is not, and the Mach 3 Power is green and the Mach 3 is black?

I couldn't see any evidence that the actual blades were different in both products. Are they? Assuming they are not different, this difference of €10 between the products seems like a grade A con job from Gillette's marketeers.

Anyone who buys blades in shops should have his head examined. I just took delivery of 90(!) Gillette Sensor blades from eBay for a total cost including postage of €36.

Go to eBay and avoid paying ripoff charges.

Nice advice Fnergg, I never even thought of that.

In response to OP there is a difference, not to sure what it is, something likey one has extra aloe or laser sharpened blades or some stuff. Tbh I always go for the cheaper as I don't notice the difference when shaving.

You have to worry about the razor arms-race. Mediation is needed. How much further can they go?

I'm waiting for the Super-Turbo-Quadruple-Seismic-Power razors with their own power pack.

Ebay all the way my brother, watch out though as the last match had blunt blades, oh it hurt alright but it didnt stop me from using them.

I now have a face like the elephant man.

    Hi Fnergg,

I have seen stuff like this on Ebay before but I had read that they were cheap chinese imitations and that the quality was terrible.

Have you had any problems? Do you use the same seller?

    Thanks

I do agree the price of blades is very high but I have had people trying to return blades to my shop saying they bought the wrong ones by accident, when they didn't scan I looked more closely and compared them to real Mach 3 and Fusion blades.

The plastic was different colors and the blades were positioned crooked.

When I gave the lot no. and barcode to Proctor and Gamble they could tell me straight away they were fake.

I was surprised to find in Spain that they were still the same price as here.

The Gillette Sensors I received are the real deal. No problems whatsoever. This was the second batch I've received in the last 12 months and they were from two different sellers. They were the genuine article in each instance. The only thing missing was the cardboard packaging.

    Regards,
