Am I entitled to mileage?

So here goes, any advice appreciated! I signed on for an office job and now Im being asked to go here and there, adds up to maybe a 100 miles or so a month, there is nothing in my contract about driving so there is nothing about mileage, am I entitled to claim for it? I have been paid in the past when it started but with some trips (maybe 40 miles) I haven't bothered because I thought it would be a once off but Im getting sick of using my car and spending cash on petrol and driving around and all that. It started small but I dont want to be paying everything out of my own pocket. Thanks!

Have you asked them if they have agreed rates? A lot of companies use the civil service rates, but I think it's pretty much up to them to define. In the meantime, can you just submit some petrol receipts as expenses? Not ideal as it doesn't cover wear and tear, but it might be a good way to send a message that you expect to be re-imbursed.

You might also want to check out if your insurance covers you to do this type of driving. Quite often it's to and from work only.
