Take a look at the table An Arable Investment. NAMA has its work cut out for it. Reminds me of Japan when the land on which the Imperial Palace stood was worth more than all of Manhattan.

Any agricultual experts out there that can explain this?

I'd imagine its due to differences in the potential value of the land if gets planning permission and the probability of getting that planning permission. The data might also be skewed because as a proportion of land sold, Ireland might have more land which is used for agriculture, but is zoned for property development.
