First of all we have the poster campaign against the recommendations in An Bord Snip Nua's report. I'm not 100% on these but it has something to do with free dental care under PRSI, any dentists around care to enlighten us?

Today in the Irish Times there is an opinion piece about dentists which raises a few interesting points.

So, dentists of boards.ie are you getting seriously worried about the implementation of the recommendations of An Bord Snip Nua?

They will just pull out of the schemes as they make far more in purely private.

Christ that's a badly written opinion piece (and I say this as someone is very critical of Mary Coughlan in general).

The McCarthy report proposed that Treatment Benefit which means dental and optical benefit for insured persons be discontinued.... I am surprised that this one wasnt picked up by the media before now. If treatment benefit is to be discontinued, will the DSFA be introducing a proportionate decrease in the social insurance rates that we all pay - given less benefits that we are going to be entitled to???

Also, within the last two years - many dentists have withdrawn from the GMS system - supposedly because of the additional admin work imposed by the HSE - can anybody explain what this extra admin work was in relation to GMS patients?

This is why everyone in receipt of any payment from the state needs to worry !
