Anything shipped from outside the EU, with a value greater than 22 euro, is subject to VAT on arrival.

www.chemistdirect.co.uk some mixed reports on them in bargain alerts, I got stuff from them, about 90% of my order came through, I was only charged for what I got, no notice of the missing stuff, others complained/inquired and got the remainder later. I was happy with them and would use them again. extremely cheap for some things, and fixed reasonable postage for large amounts.

Please, no talk of importing drugs, prescription or non, even with a valid prescription for the following reasons.
The legislation applicable to the supply of prescription only medicinal products by Internet supply in Ireland is the Medicinal Products (Prescription and Control of Supply) Regulations 2003-2008. This prohibits the mail order of prescription only medicinal products.

Any pharmacy licensed by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and will only supply to persons holding a UK National Health Service prescription or a private prescription from a doctor in the UK.

The IMB and Revenue Customs Service actively police the importation into Ireland of medicines by Internet supply and detain the consignment without providing any compensation.

In addition - sending an Irish script over to the UK to be filled can only legally be done if the doctor puts down their GMC number (UK medical council number) - which many Irish doctors don't have.

Even if they come from an online pharmacy which is located in the UK - importation of drugs (ALL drugs Prescription and non-prescription) requires an import license.

Is there any definition of what constitutes a "non-prescription" drug?

e.g. caffeine? which would be contained in chocolate & coffee products. Or many "antacid" drugs, many of which are basically flavoured baking soda/chalk.

I'm not sure, but one of the doctors on boards said it in the mod forum, that even non-script drugs need a licence to import. Where the line is drawn, I couldn't say. I'm going with anything from paracetamol upwards.

Well the sites listed do beauty stuff, so just look at those bits! Just think of them as pharmacies, the one I linked does sell prescription drugs, but like a pharmacy you need a prescription! and I am pretty sure you need to be in the UK too, dunno about the others.

YOu might find more help in the "ladies lounge" or the fashion & appearance forum, I have heard of some other site, strawberrynet

I certainly wouldn't recommend chemist direct, its the luck of the draw, whether you'll get a good service or not! I had to cancel an order recently from them after nearly 2 weeks of waiting for it to be dispatched. They couldn't tell me when it would be dispatched. Included in the order were a cage and items for our new pet rats......They messed me around so I had to get the items locally instead. I have had only one order out of 4 delivered to me on time. The first, they *lost* my order and any record of it, (they actually charged my cc in full, took lots of angry emails and contact with my cc to get my money back), I stupidly decided to give them another chance and the second I had to wait a month for it, the 3rd was the one I received within a week, and the 4th I had to cancel for the reasons outlined above!

In answer to your question about cosmetics, I ordered a pile of clinique stuff from cdwow, when they were doing €6 off all cosmetics a few weeks back, I got things like the toner and soap for €1.99 each!! They've done this sort of offer a few times, with money off everything site wide, so its worth waiting to see do they do it again.

Bought over £50 worth of non prescription goods. I was short 4 products value £9.65. That was over a month ago. They charged my credit card in full and I still haven't received the outstanding items or a credit. 10 Emails + 6 online chats and no satisfaction. Wouldn't recommend them at all.
