Fifa for defo, can't seem to get the grip of pro

Fifa seems more difficult and less pick up and play so I'd say its better as a soccer sim. Although sometimes its nice to just play a more arcade style of game like PES.

As you never specified which ones I will say the latest FIFA > the latest Pro Evo

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,848 ✭✭✭✭Zombrex

OP you need a time context for this (as Mossy says). Fifa used to be crap, but has improved a lot in the last 2 versions because they changed the main developers to guys who actually knew what they were doing and loved football (Good article about that in Edge a few months back)

Pro Evo was the king of the heap for a long time but they seem to have got lazy, and the next-gen outings have been pretty poor updates of the PS2 versions.

So depends on when you are asking. Pro Evo has been better for longer, but FIFA 09 is probably the best at the moment.

It will be interesting to see if Pro Evo dev team can take it's head from up its ass and actually produce a proper version of Pro Evo for the PS3. Then things will get interesting.

PES for me but I am not happy with this years by a long stretch. Need to give Fifa a proper go.

    Striker '96

But for this thread, I'll say Pro Evo. I've been a Pro Evo man for as long as I can remeber since ISS Pro Deluxe for the SNES.

I thought PES2009 was okay but disappointing for a next Gen game. I thought FIFA was pretty good this year as well. That was a suprise to me because generally I dislike FIFA.

I just hope PES2010 will live up to its expectations.

I don't particulary favour either brand over the other, but Fifa 09 was much better than this years Pro Evo, and you're only as good as your last game, so Fifa got it.

This year FIFA by a mile. I have always been a pro ev fan but its went way down hill the last 2 years.

Kick Off 2 beats all them. Still get the Amiga out for the odd game.

I can't honestly remember a year when Pro Evo beat FIFA. I guess I just love FIFA :p

Every year sivce ISS Pro on the playstation "real" football fans knew ISS was miles better, Fifa was all flashy presentation with crappy gameplay, Pro evo played exactly like real football

It's a tough one now because swiching would be almost like changing the football team I've supported all my life....

Pro evo 2008 really did drop the ball though, and I'll admit it's nice having all the real names etc...for now though it's a case of the remembering all the times I stayed up all night playing Pro evo and having faith that Konami can turn it all around...I'm slowly getting more and more tempted by the dark side of football thou...

Did a magazine tell you this or did you pluck it out of your imagination? Fact is nobody will know until they play them.

Has got to be pro evolution for me. I know that pro evolution has its negatives like dull menus and lack of licences/features but the gameplay is just always ahead of FIFA, it has much more of an anything can happen feel to it whereas FIFA is just too bogged down in realism for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,890 ✭✭✭✭Nalz

Read the posts here, and the few reviews online. Bought Fifa 09 and just didnt like it. Neither did the boys in the house. Although Pro evo online can be annoying half of the time!

Last year it had to be FIFA, every year before that, back to ISS on the SNES I was a PES/Konami head. Hoping Konami step it up this year!

Nintendo world cup soccer on the nes is the best

ISS 64 for the N64 was the greatest football game ever. Gomez for Brazil was always banging in goals for me. :D

But now, FIFA has stepped up to the plate in fashion with FIFA 09. I think the new PES is concentrating on graphics if these images are anything to go by.

I'll do what I did last year; download both demos and see which feels best, which despite all I'd heard was still pro evo.

Sensible Soccer. Now there was a game. David Beckham Soccer would be a close second!

The best football game ever IMO was ISS Pro '98. Pro Evo was always far superior to FIFA right up until Konami dropped the ball in these latest instalments.

FIFA is now the better game so I voted FIFA.

Ive always been a PES man since ISS on PS2. Everyone says FIFA has now got its act together and is now overtakin PES, but I find it hard to believe. Ill have to rent FIFA 10 and see.

I always think about how epic the master league is in PES. Skrimping by with low point, bringin in out of contract players and lads on loan. Building up a team. The joy of winning promotion or avoiding relegation. I cant see how FIFA could match it.

i have but one complaint about FIFA this term, the seemingly too-fast pace of a cross suggests some ball flight situ's may be unrealistic.

i don't think theres any argument based on last year, i'm not going into how i was a konami football addict for 10yr. but FIFA's only upped its game again - we have yet to sample PES 2010. required a major overhaul last i recall
