Tax payers and benifit receivers

It seems to me that most tax payers have a dislike(even a hatred) for anyone on benifits. On boards I have seen alot chichés about people on the dole in the pub during the day. Or if they have an expensive tv/laptop. Maybe someone going on a holiday somewhere in the sun or, even buying a small luxury item is a big no no to many on boards.

I have to say I'm on the dole with rent allowance(as you may have guessed, why else would I be starting this). Sometimes (not often) I will go to the pub during the day because they make the best hot chocolate, it's only €2 and you get a little kinder bar with it.

I don't have an expensive tv but I'm not bothered with a tv, don't have any kind of tv but, I do have a mac book pro which at the time cost a bit over €2000, I was in college and working then so could afford it and got it cheapier too. To really annoy you I have another laptop, yes I'm on the dole and have two laptops:eek:. The other one is for a home learning course I signed up for, wouldn't work with the mac, so I needed to get it.

My latest luxury item is a three legged cat which I got from the animal shelter. She's not very healthy at the moment, wasn't eating enough in the shelter and is dehydrated and thin. In the three weeks I've had her I've spent a crap load of money on her but, needed to get her injections. I bought her a €30+ euro bag of Royal Canin food for her expensive food but I worked out that it costs somewhere between 20-40 cent a day to feed her and she's going to be healthier with less trips to the vet. She also got a scratching tree which cost about €25 and some other treats and toys but she needed the tree she was doing her nails in the fancy looking mat on the floor which is owned by the landlord, I couldn't have her making a mess of that.

Oh and I also own a subaru but it's a 99 subaru vivio. I got it to increase the chances of getting a job.

I also know someone who is on single parents allowance and child benifit. She has a big tv and was planning on going on a sun holiday with her kids. For as long as I've known her shes had that tv, she got it as a gift. The holiday was going to be paid for with money she recieved from her 40th birthday.

Since the people of AH are quite opinionated, I'd just like to know your opinion on what I just wrote. It feels like all some people want everyone on benifits to do is look for a job, send out CVs, go to interviews maybe some would allow us to sleep and eat as well.

P.s. I'm not giving out, I'm writing this with a smile on my face thinking about the replies I'll get.
