This is such a great thing. A few sites I'm on people have helped each other out when they faced serious problems. This is one of the things that I love about the music community... seems a bit more prevalent amongst bassists though. :pac:

Here's another example of this happening and it just makes me feel all fuzzy inside. :p

A guy on the Ernie Ball forums posted up a forsale thread with several of his basses for sale which included a preordered bass in a nice colour (Dargie Delight). He needed the money to pay for his medical bills as he recently found out he has cancer. Here's where it gets interesting... Sterling Ball stepped in and said that if people donate money to the guy in need and they reach the amount that the guy would get from the sale then they would GIVE him the bass on preorder for free...

Well they did just that and now the total donated stands at over $8000!

You can read about it here http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/39410-help-knucklehead-out-time-need.html#post632679

Sorry mods, slightly OT... delete it if you see fit. But I just thought it might be a nice thing to post up. Not nice about the chap getting cancer though. :(

Yeah, we bassists are a caring lot alright. :p

Nice gesture on the part of Sterling Ball. A heart lifting story indeed. :)

He got a massive donation, and he got the bass he had pre-ordered for free. And then he asked if he could change his (now free) pre-order to one with a more expensive rosewood neck :D Bit cheeky :pac: I think even Sterling Ball found it a bit out of line:
erin why would you ask for something more? seriously...Dont bust the groove here

I helped get all your bills [paid and got you a free bass and you keep asking for a one off rosewood neck....chill and please accept what is offered thanks

I seriously hope this doesnt turn out to be a scam on his part.. cos he sounds like an ungrateful **** (I didnt read the full thread though).

Maybe I am just an old cynic but 8K isnt gonna pay his bills for a brain tumor if my wife's broken arm cost over 5K.

BUT it is great to see people so willing to chip in and help out :)

Yeah I saw that. Kinda takin' the piss asking for that... but anyways, it was still a nice thing for EBMM to do.

ya the guys on the forum are a very special bunch of people.Im amember myself for the last 3years and have seen lots of examples of generousity from the members and sterling ball.
Another example was an australian member whose child was very sick and nearly died last year and the guys at EBMM sent over a signed Albert lee signature guitar to him for free as a good will gesture.
How many companies would do that?????????????

There is simply no emoticon in existence to express how this story makes me feel.

Dargie Delight is a nice colour. Good choice even if he didn't manage to get the rosewood neck.

What a cheeky fukker. Fair play to EBMM for not taking back the offer.
