I got a new installation of Sky+ the end of April last.
Then box began to freeze pic and then shut down completely.
Man comes early June and gives me another new box. nice man.
Two weeks later, hey presto, box up to old tricks again. This time freezing the pic for long sessions - up to 3 mins.
Today, original nice man come again, and give me ANOTHER new box.
    WTF.
Has anyone had or heard of this happening elsewhere :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::cool:

When I worked for $ky a few years ago I visited one particular house in Edenderry 13 times, and changed the $ky+ box 13 times. After that a different engineer had changed it another 3 times. I lost touch with him after that so I have no doubt that the box has been changed several times since.

The freezing pic could have something to do with your sky card?. I know when I had sky + I would often have freeze issues and it ended up being my card that was causing the problems.

Take the card out and switch off the box for a few minutes, turn the box back on and let the listings load then put the card back in, turn the box off with the card in and turn it back on.

Worked for me without having to get my box changed, Its worth a try but since you have had the box changed so many times it might not help. Have you recieved the new white card from sky yet?. If you have and you are still having problems I guess you are just one unlucky person.

Their is no point in changing the box everytime If you have any more problems i would demand to whoever you got Sky from that the next time an installer calls out that he takes all the previous equipment Dish,Cable and Sky box out and reinstalls all new equipment it's the only way to solve your problem.

Finishedart, this could be a ventilation problem. Is the box stacked under a lot of other machines or in a cabinet that is too tight a fit for the Sky box? Back when I got Sky first I went through three or four boxes. I removed a shelf that appeared to be causing the problem and have not had any problems since and I've upgraded from regular to plus to HD, all hassle free.

    Update:
The third box has now started to go 'on the blink'. Now shutting down constantly. Rang Sky direct today - don't ring Sky Ireland, a bunch of hams. After a lot of tough talking, being offered a recon box etc they finally gave into me and agreed to switch me next Tuesday to a Sky+HD installation at no extra cost to me. Anyone got a spare HD TV. :):):):p:):):)

I came across a similar problem with a sky FTA box I installed 6 months ago, changed the box 3 times as picture was stalling, box freezing, no satellite signal being received coming up on screen etc.
I knew after the third one went belly up that theres no way 3 boxes could have the exact same problem, I changed the LNB and away the box worked, no problem since and I had the first 2 boxes lying in a corner of my shed, hooked them up to my own system and they worked away fine for 3 weeks solid and i've since installed them in other houses and they're working fine.
I'm surprised the engineer did'nt replace the LNB as well as changing the box especially if it was the same person or if he knew it was the 3rd time in a few months the box was bein replaced.
When the installer does come with your new box tell him whats happened with your other boxes and insist he changes the LNB also, it'll only take him a few extra minutes to do it, now maybe it won't make any difference but it will certainly do no harm anyway, its worth a try.
