yeah i think thats the story.
We have had a really bad smell in our kitchen and I pulled out the base to a cub board and the smell was stronger from there and there were alot of flies came out when i opened it up.

so im thinking that something has crawled in there and didnt come out.

I dont see any other way to do this other than pull up all the cuboards... hopefully its under the cupboards rather than the floor boards (living in a bungalow)

any tips or experiences that might be of use ?

    Thanks.

do u not have kick boards around all the units: they create a 4 inch space between floor and bottom of cupboards.
Is the base u took out not the same all way around: if u are not sure post a few pics: we will suit up

there are kick boards around the base... but all the other bases are secured down.
looks like they might be a one piece unit.

    Hi,
My brother in law had the same problem 20 years ago in a new house. Blue Bottles in the kitchen every morning and a fowl smell. Eventually had to lift a few Floor Boards and found a large Dead Fox. They think he went in for shelter the night before the Builders poured the Steps.

    Hi,

Is it possible that you can't see the kick board joint because part of the floor was tiled up tight to the board ?

If you open the doors and look about 30mm in along the edge you may see small screw holes, take out the screws and try to prise out the kick board.

It is unusual for the gables on the modern kitchen carcass to extend down to the floor.

Perhaps a photo or two would help.

ill get a few photos up tonight.
we put in lino recently (which is already ripped by some work guys we had in) so that might have to be replaced soon.
that goes up to the bottom of these kick boards.
kick board is approx 5in in height and there are box units that were put in (we had one replaced recently).

ill have a look at trying to locate those nails for the kick board (rings a small bell)

would it signify anything if a bathroom at the other end of the house has the same smell ? but my room which is across the hall from it doesnt ?
