Gentlemen (and one or two women),

How to you suggest we eat?

Im thinking instant noodles will be very important if the human race falls.

If there are Zeds/Nuke Radiation, our water, food (maybe even animals we hunt) could be infected. mutant 8 legged deer rabbits? hmmm. Not pleasant.

    So.

    Whats on your menu?

Gagh....if it's good enough for the Klingons then it's good enough for me.

Another option would be Abrakebabra....then again the awesome smell of the taco fries would probably alert our undead friends.

Well there could be numerous things wrong with the water, from a dead z upstream,or radiation,or whatever.

The only real way to be sure is to know where its coming from. I'd guess that collecting rain water would be safer. (Although, can't rain clouds spread radioactivity?)

If there's going to be fallout then this is the only way to grow food safely.

oddly enough on one trip to the supermarket i found that the longest shelf life of a product, especially the dry stuff like instant noodles is only about 18 months.

water could be decontaminated by purification tablets and boiling it. if radioactive, bottled water would have to be sourced.

as i had mentioned in another thread, i propose that any survivors head to the tesco's distribution centre in co. dublin - its solar powered, and abot a mile and a half long, with an extension coming soon.

enough food and cheap clothes for everyone.

also i've eaten spam. its basically dog food.

just thinking the same thing the other night. I looked a cartoon of prunes and it was good for two years.

Any dried fruit would be good, along with nuts and most cereals. We shouldn't have a problem with water in Ireland, a good rain cathing system will keep it topped up. Basically canned and dried food is best.

I really like Kromdars idea about the distribution centre, it can be locked down tight and enough food and water to last years. If I'm in the area when the sh1te hits the fan, I'll be heading there.

How does the z-virus survive outside of a body though? Ireland is litered with underground water springs I know of two locally. Making a water purification system isn't all that hard either. Everyone should know how to purify water.

Growing indoors may be out of the question. How are you going to generate enough power to run all the specialised lighting they would need?

The factory that will become my fort is surrounded by a field which I plan to fence in giving enough room to keep animals and grow food, I also know where I can get a good few grow tunnels for speeding up the process and allowing me to grow food year round. It will need to be supplemented as there will be a good few people to feed.

About the expiration dates on food: You can add a good few months onto most. Allot of food manufacturers will make it shorter just to be on the safe side and others will say food that can last for years goes out of date within months just to get you to throw it out and buy more.

I also know two butchers that will be in charge of maintaining food and curing it for long term storage. You can get months of eating out of one cow if you know how.
