Cut on heel - half-ironman coming up

Hi - new here. I do run myself but actually looking for some advice for DH. He's doing the half-ironman in Courttown on Sunday and all was going well. We were on holidays last week though and he took a fair chunk out of the bottom of his heel on a rock on the beach. It's healing but slowly and 1) it's coming against him in training, even if he is tapering this week - he's favouring the foot a bit so his ankle is getting sore, and 2) he still has to run 13 miles on it on Sunday.

Any tips on getting it to heal quicker, and/or is there anything he can get to help him run on it, any such thing as little pads or something he could put in his shoe... I don't know really what I'm looking for, he's going to go to the pharmacy tomorrow and see, but I said I'd ask here seeing as it is the fount of all knowledge!

    Thanks for any advice!

I'm sorry but as per site rules we can't give any advice on something like that. If someone here gave the wrong advice it might make matters worse and put him out of teh race altogether, best bet is to go to a medical professional.
