I asked him to perform at my comedy club, Anseo and this is his response:

"Sorry I just realized I hadnt responded. I can't do your club for the sole reason that I hate the sound of my own voice and dont know why anyone would think I was funny. So I tend to stick to the larger market, in-out gigs.

But I sincerely appreciate you asking. I'm just ****ing old and sick of myself.

If I see you there, it will be to drink and only to drink.

Thanks and see you on the road somewhere."

Folled with slef-loating but nice guy under it all. <snip> it should be amazing... certainly controvercial..

Anyone who can say "Irish men rape children because Irish women are too ugly to rape" to an Irish audience has balls.

He didn't exactly get a warm welcome at the Reading and Leeds festival the other week.

Got the ticket the minute it was announced!

Saw him last year and only dabbled in his humour until then. Cannot wait for this.

That's... not quite what he said.

This would be great to see. He's a cool guy.

Think he's in Galway on the 3rd.

Fantastic show tonight. Really really excellent. Nearly choked laughing several times. Only downside were the odd sycophant at the front of the crowd and the guys taking pictures of course.

Great show by Doug. Went up to him in the bar afterwards to say thanks and to buy a DVD and the guy wouldn't even take a penny. Fantastic show and all round nice guy.

I've seen Doug probably five times in the last ten years and I can honestly say last night's show was the best I've seen him do. He was in seriously great form.

What a show! How weird was it to see him happy? Although you wouldn't think it with some of the new or 'revised' material.

Yeah there were a couple of eejits that kept going to the toilets sitting beside me. One would come back and then proceed to explain to the other what he missed. Knobs.

Also a very rowdy drunk scotsman sat in front. (He's the one that shouted "F*ck someone uglier than you". You could tell he was one of those 'die hards' that just wanted Doug to notice him....aw....).

Waited a bit afterwards and spotted him just yapping away to a few people at the bar. Was about to approach for a pic but thought "Do I want to be that kind of an annoying c*nt?" and just left.

Also I can't stop laughing at the time lapse bit! Fantastic.

First time I've seen him live. Great great show. Some quality material which I won't ruin by trying to explain on boards here. I honestly haven't laughed that much in ages.

Got chatting briefly to someone behind me (fellow boards poster I think) about the Pixies show. So if that's you: hello!

There were some annoying sycophants in the crowd alright. One guy in front of me wasn't laughing at anything but just clapping at inappropriate times and shouting out stuff about Obama.

All in all though a brilliant performance.

Yeah! What the f*ck was that about? Was sitting on the left hand side near the front and every now and then I just heard "Obama..........mumble mumble antichrist".

Also thank you to whoever shouted back "Shut the f*ck up". Legend.

Twas myself I think - enjoy the gig tonight!

Savage show last night - that king kong/spelling bee bit stopped me in my tracks. I had a hard time stopping the tears during that.

Had a drink with the man after - the guys a legend

I had an absolutely amazing night. I can't decide whether I preferred this show or the last one a yea ago. My only problem with the night was that I think I drank a little too much and the set is a little blurry haha
