Real evidence

Suppose a car is stolen. The supposed car is then found by the guards. The guards want to keep the supposed car as evidence for a possible future case. The owner does not have the use of the suopposed car in the meantime and by the time the supposed car is returned, if ever, it will have devalued considerably and probably be mechanically unsound. Can the imaginary owner do anything in that situation?

    In reality very little.

The only way to get the car back would be to drop the complaint.

The imaginary owner can contact his local district court office and make an application under the police property act to have the vehicle returned.
