    Just watched this recently.
    Liked it.

Not much in the way of plot but the chemistry between Hawke and Delpi sustains it.
Some people hate Hawke but he's quite good in this.
    And Delpi is very cute.
Definitely one of the best depictions of the development of a romance- (Cinema Paradiso probably gives it a run for its money).

Disappointed and frustrated a bit with the ending though:p
Why didn't they try to stay together if their time together was so intense.
    Was confused about that.

    Opinions on this movie?

Will probably watch the sequel some time- is it comparable?

Sunrise is a decent films with some nice moments (
    record booth scene is great
) but the sequel is fantastic - far more interesting real time structure, really well developed characters and a great ending that makes you wish for a third in another decade or so!

I thought the original was better than the sequel but they're both worth a watch.

    ....
you know i can tell you , that part one is much better,
    but , tell me
how many times , you have seen sequele, in real time,
i mean , that , the same couple again meeting after 10 years, when actually 10 years, had passed,
    and you know,
i didnot know , about the sequele when i saw first the before sunrise,

delpi is no doubt very good singer and attractive woman ,
the scene in second part , when they sit in coffee bar, when they walk in park ,
when they met in book review club .. and so on so forth ,
    man it is good

man, are you posting from a morse code machine? Whats with all the ,'s

Anyways, there is an observer list of "Five electric scenes that lit up the screen" and there is a scene from the sequel I think. It sounds class, the two of those movies are in my to watch list.

By the way, the spoilers Ive put in below is more than the Observer gives you. Spoiled both movies considerably. You have been warned.

Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in Before Sunset (2004)

Jesse (Hawke) and Celine (Delpy) meet in Paris nine years after their one night together in Vienna. Now he has to fly home to his family. 'Baby, you are gonna miss that plane,' she purrs. 'I know,' he replies. Fade out. The end.

I prefer the sequel by quite a lot. The first film is ok, but the second has so much more depth. The characters have grown up so aren't half as naval gazing as they are in Sunrise. And the real time device works beautifully, the movie is mainly just one long conversation with a defined time limit of just over an hour, we see everything they say to each other, with nothing left out.

There is a possibility that they will make a 3rd movie, but I'd just like to see it end where the sequel leaves it.

Not my thing really... definitely not in the same league as Cinema Paradiso. But I liked when he got the bottle of wine at the end.

Watched the sequel- have to admit some of the long unedited scenes are quite impressive in their realism- credit to both actors.
At times you almost believe the two actors are really involved with each other- it's weird. :)
Hawke was with Thurman at this stage IIRC- wonder what she made of it. :D

Just one thing left me feeling a bit strange:
What about poor oul' wifey back in the States.
I know his marriage may have been on the rocks but still... that was a bit unexplored.
    And his kid.
Was kinda wishing he didn't have a kid for that reason.

    Otherwise great film.
