For me it was the fairly new movie 'Transformers 2'. I couldn't believe my friends telling me it was great. Besides ridiculously hot megan fox making this film watchable. It had a sh*t storyline, sh*t action scenes, sh*t acting and all round sh*t humour. Oh and the twin robot's GRRRR!!!!

What a complete f*ck up of a movie.

I quite liked it, up until the last 30-40 minutes... You'd want to be on acid to get any kind of enjoyment out of that!!!

i find most of kubricks movies (that ive seen) utterly boring

no country for old men would be one of the recent ones, i mean it was ok like, not terrible but not good either (its good on a technical level, but not entertaining)

also everything by shyamalan, not just the later stuff that everyone hates

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,712 ✭✭✭davelerave

what about 'caddyshack'.seems to be voted one of the best comedies of all time fairly regular

I hate that piece of **** movie so much that I can't even be arsed checking if I spelt it correctly...
Yet I had friends who raved about how damn funny it was:confused:

I think any new comedy involving will ferrel .
Anchorman and Old school were him at peak .
He would be better off picking alternative comedic roles like in stranger than fiction.

As already mentioned earlier, anything that Kubrick made just makes me wonder why he is held in such high esteem.

XXX (Vin Diesel rubbish, bought the DVD on a friends reccomendation for a score, would gladly give it away if anyone would take it)

Starship Troopers (typical movie were ALL the budget went on special effects and about €5 on actors salary)

And any film with Nicole Kidman in it (including 'the others' which could have been ok if she was not in it, dreadful dreadful actor)

Nixon, the film with Anthony Hopkins in it. Tried to watch it 3 times and every times I've turned it off a third of the way through. Incredibly boring.

The recent movies that have been recommended most and enjoyed least would be 'Martyrs' and 'The Descent'. God, the latter is just awful...

A lot of movies mentioned that I really like :p Agree with 'Shawshank' & 'Slumdog', though.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall....bad acting, stupid dialogue. Mostly a 1 hour+ long ad for Hawaii, with some gratuitous sex jokes thrown in to keep everyone awake.

The Notebook...characters are completely selfish, no consequences for their selfish stupid acts, the only part I found remotely heart wrenching was the scene right at the end, where
    she forgets who he is

have to say I liked Slumdog Millionaire but didn't really think the "feel-good" tag fit the film.

starship troopers is in my top 10 films of all time , not only is it a kick ass action flick , its wickedly satirical like so many of verhovens movies , as homer once said , football in the groin , it works on so many levels

'The Children' was similarly crap. I need to stop taking people's horror recommendations at face value, or I'll be posting in this thread quite a bit!

I have to go with Public Enemies too - long, drawn-out and downright boring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭uncleoswald

Cabin Fever- I heard so many good things about this movie that by the time I got around to seeing it it was a crushing disappointment. 2 hours spent with the most irritating characters ever put on screen (didn't even enjoy watching them die) and the entire movie is a set up to weird joke with a crappy punchline that would be offensive if it wasn't so dumb.

Starship Troopers (typical movie were ALL the budget went on special effects and about €5 on actors salary)

I think you missed the point of Starship Troopers completely. The cast were all perfect, they played their roles to perfection and thats why the films works. It's not some cerebral hard sci fi film, it's an entertaining critique on America and peoples attitudes to war.
