    Hi,
I'm travelling up north at the end of the month for few days. Being from Galway and having a southern reg is there certain areas i should avoid?
I was hoping to visit alot of the murals in belfast etc, republican and loyalist. I'd like to photograph them but with a southern reg car is it safe to get out and take pictures?
Also, has anyone got any suggestions on little towns/villages that are worth a visit??

Was up there a few months ago to drive my friend up to buy a car I missed my turn and our sat nav took us on another route through a loyalist area painted curbs, flags etc (didnt see any murals tho) and the car got pelted with stones and the windowscreen got cracked. Then when we appeard to be out of the area a few miles down the road we stopped and asked an oldish man walking a dogs for directions and he just stood there and stared at us silently until we drove away.

Do a Google on Belfast mural tours, I know there was a black cab company organising tours a while back. Might be safer with a local/guide.

There are black taxi's that will take you around for a set fee - http://www.belfasttours.com/about.htm this website should help. Unfortunately there are still a lot of a**holes about. It goes to show how the registration of a car marks your religion or how people see it that way.

    Thanks for the help.
I hate them tour guide things, but it looks like I have no other option...
