Studying medicine in college

Can you give me some details about it? How many hours a week are lectures? Obviously it's a demanding course, but do you still have enough free time to enjoy the social side of college? Does it require much personal sacrifice? Is it an enjoyable course? Obviously once the interest is there, it should be enjoyable but overall do you find it to be satisfying and worthwhile?
Why do/did you want to study medicine in the first place?

Any other additional information at all that you feel might be relevant, please feel free to share.

You'll have loads of time off, and medicine becing so long means that you'll make some long term friends and also the college life goes on a little longer than it probably should do......

I would be interested in knowing what the costs involved are for say doing it in scotland versus Ireland if you don't go through the CAO system.
