as far as i know last man standing for both dab and shops start this weekend. depending weather ya do it on line or in a shop thats where ya enter ur teams

It doesn't start until this weekend.
Each shop puts up a wall chart and you can follow your in-shop progress there. When it gets down to the last 5-600 countrywide they put those numbers up on the screens in the shops. I did all my first 8 weeks thinking I'd have to include the Saturday just gone and this midweek, and now don't know whether to change them all or not. I had Chelsea for the weekend and Fulham for the midweek. I may just leave them out and hope that I get far enough to start including them in later - much later!

I havent looked too much into it but I'd be interested,is it a tenner a week(or round of matches) and if you're doing it instore what happens if you miss a week etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,235 ✭✭✭jacool

its free to enter. if you miss a week they put in the lowest alphabetical team you haven't yet selected e.g. Arsenal, Aston Villa but you are only allowed miss one week.

Do you have to make the selections in store or can you do it online?

The online Last Man Standing started last weekend on PP. But they start a new one every weekend anyway. The offer last week was that if you got your result wrong you got a free entry into the version starting next weekend.
Me 1724, when you log in to LMS, it will tell you on the right hand side how many entered and how many are left. From memory @ 1,000 left from 1,250 or so.

Seperately run comps. So for the store ones you have to go in (or phone) every week. Online is done...well....online.

Can't get to a shop before Saturday.

I signed up for the online paddy power one last week. It was €10 to enter, so I deposited only €10 into my account, I then picked aston villa but they lost.
I'm just after getting an email from PP telling me to pick another one for this wkend which I'm just after doing but I had no money in my PP account ? I thought I would've been knocked out last week? Did I get a free go?

I havent entered yet but would love to do the free one.

Good stuff! Going to chance Arsenal tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,065 ✭✭✭j@utis

can somebody else go into the pp shop and put your selection in for you? or you have to be there in person?
and I also found it strange that I was not given anything to confirm my participation in this tournament when I handed over my app. form and 1st week's selection.

I picked Sunderland against Blackburn. I'm probably a fecking eejit but want to get my lower teams over so I can use the big teams near the end.

    I'm doing the same thing!

To stand a chance, apart from luck, its a good idea to pick weaker teams at home earlier in the season against modest opposition. Also have a good peek at the fixture list between now and Christmas.

    Another weekend survived. :)

Unless Chelsea or Liverpool don't win, I'd say most people are still in it.
so I can use the big teams near the end.
Problem with that is (speaking from experience :() if one of your weaker teams don't win, you'll never get to use the stronger teams later on as you'll have been knocked out.

Been playing these for about three seasons now in work and that's my strategy too and bar one occasion where I went out in week one I have usually been in the mix and have won once. Started two seperate competitions yesterday and survived both. Work one starting next week so maybe too many fingers in too many pies as I don't want to pick same teams and get knocked out of all three simultaneously. Hard enough picking one lower team, nevermind three.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,555 ✭✭✭Gillington

Through to the next round anyways with City my mate picked Hull so we're both through it'll be interesting to see who's tactics pay off,me picking bigger teams and his going down the lower teams first route.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭jameshayes

I went for birmingham and the draw, wasted my draw chance but it kept me in the comp till next week..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

I'd say most people still in it after the w/e.
With Arsenal, Chelsea, United and City winning & assuming Liverpool win tonight, they would have been the major selections.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    1303 people entered the tournament
    1021 survived to Week 2
    944 survived to Week 3

With Liverpool loosing I'd have expected a greater attrition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭jameshayes

    Chelsea
    Arsenal
    Man City
    Stoke
    Aston Villa

Think that now people have picked all the 'almost sure' teams the drop off will be a fair bit steeper...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭jameshayes

Think i'll go with Everton this weekend..

Is this correct? I entered in the PP shop last week but then couldn't make it to the shop to make my selection for the weekend!! Arsenal won so does that mean I'm still in the comp?

went with everton myself, tough choice between them and villa.

This is my first pick outside the big four.. should get very chancey from here on in.

    You talking about PP LMS?
I thought it only started last weekend and it's on week 2 now?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

A new one starts every week. If you got in at week one then we are now selecting from match day 3 (cos its weekend fixtures only, matchday 2 wasn't included.)

I'd love to pick Wolves but until they get all thier strikers and Michael Kightly back I'll have to pass. I'll go for Everton or Chelsea I suspect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭hawaii501

I'm taking the risk and going for Wolves tomorrow as kevin doyle is playing so they should be able to score.

    I copped out a bit - Spurs.

Phew! Just! Still any win will do.

Picked Spurs meself thank you Mr.Lennon! Still have the top 4 to choose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,536 ✭✭✭Brimmy

    Had Everton.

Put them down with my draw option as I wasn't too confident. Realized after I should have kept it for Wolves/Hull etc but meh.

    Roll on next week :)

    This doesn't make any sense;
    1303 people entered the tournament
    944 survived to Week 3
    1024 survived to Week 4
Will you be the last man standing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭jameshayes

Is it because of the 2nd chance people had on the first week?

Sure if you are gone you are gone I'd have thought. All the popular picks survived this week so it should be down, but not by much I guess.

but its gone up instead of down - if there were only 900 ~ people in the comp on week 3 how come there is 1000~ people in it now?!

Could be a typo of course.

was talking to the paddypower guys...

Due to a small technical error in the Last Man Standing system more players are showing up in the tournament than there are involved. This is currently being investigated by our IT department and will be fixed shortly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭jameshayes

    This is a little better;
    1303 people entered the tournament
    944 survived to Week 3
    894 survived to Week 4
Will you be the last man standing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 706 ✭✭✭whatsupdoc?

This must be the online one and different to the shop one as I overheard one of the PP shop staff saying there were over 30,000 entries last week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,303 ✭✭✭Boxfresh

yes that is the online one, 10 euro entry fee. there is 1000's in the shop one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,555 ✭✭✭Gillington

There was only 221 in the Bray shop before the weekends games, are you's saying theres 1000's in your shop or all shops combined?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,094 ✭✭✭Joeyjoejoe43

There are 1000's in all shops combined... Got to last 266 last year and came joint first in my local shop, won €450 out of it!! Last year you could see behind counter on a board how many were left and what teams your opponents had chosen, there doesnt seem to be the same thing this year.. Anyone got any idea how many are left in free to enter last man standing this year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

No idea but at a rough guess:
    PP has 200 shops
    If 150-200 people enter per shop that's 30,000 - 40,000 entries.
Assuming most still in it after 2 weeks.
there doesnt seem to be the same thing this year

Might be too many at this stage?
