Installation Woe's

Sigh, have been with UPC about 2 months. Intial install went fine. Got the DVR and regular digital in kitchen.

Ordered HD install for today. Got the confirmation call yesterday to make sure I would be in the house.

Hung around all day, but no installation (although an engineer did call about my series link problem on the DVR, software issue - series link borked).

Called UPC at 5 (spent 30 minutes listening to the recording telling me how efficient and award winning their customer service is). When I got a human, they told me that they are really busy with installs, and to wait, the installer would ne there by 6 or shortly afterwards.

By 6.30, no sign. Called UPC again and after 45 minutes on hold, got a very apologetic lady, who didn't really have any news or information. She didn't have contact details for the installer guy, and there was no note in the system to say if there was a problem.

So a full day wasted. What's really annoying is that he was supposed to call about 1 hour before he came to make sure I was in. Surely he could have called to say he would not be making it.

So no possibility of HD for me for at least 2 more weeks. As am out of holiday days in work, so can't take the time during the week, and have family stuff the next 2 weekends, so can't spare another saturday until september...

I thought that with the UPC takeover their customer service was supposed to have improved immensely. If this is improved, god help the poor customers from before the UPC takeover.

This along with the dodgy Series Link on the DVR are cementing UPC as a bad decision in my mind.

Although it's more expensive, I'm giving strong consideration to going back to SKY and BT broadband...
