I am building a conventional two storey cavity wall house. I have the roof on now and will be putting in the windows soon. I have left holes in my blockwork for conventional vents but I have not put any holes in the insulation yet.
    I used 80mm Xtratherm insulation.
I am putting in two solid fuel stoves. I have conventional chimneys built.
I have no external air supply in for the stoves, yet anyway?

Can anybody give me advice on applying a heat recovery ventilation system at this stage of the build.

I have read a good few of the discussions throughout the forum and am still confused. The problem is see is that there is too much discussion and not enough information on what people actually did or had to do to achieve an airtight house with a sucesssful heat recovery system.

I think a thread with a summary of the practical steps required during a build to achieve an airtight house would be beneficial.

all the info you need is included in the acceptable details:
    http://www.environ.ie/en/Publications/DevelopmentandHousing/BuildingStandards/FileDownLoad,18751,en.pdf

even better info is available here, its the UKs accrediated details:
    http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/masonry_cavity_wall_insulation_illustrations.pdf

in both documents pay attention to the blue line, air barrier continuity details..........
