ACCA P7 - Independent College or Griffith College Dublin

P7 will be the last paper I need to prepare to complete my ACCA exams.
As I had enough to study on my own, I decided this time to treat myself for my last paper by taking some evening classes.

After looking at the different tuition providers, I am now hesitating between Independent College (Dawson st) and Griffith College Dublin (Westmoreland st) as they are both located in the city centre and offering week classes.

However I don't know which one to choose and I was wondering if anyone could share with me his experience on the following lecturers:
    - Dave O'donoghue for Indepedent College
    - Suzanne Burdis for Griffith College

Thank you in advance for your comments

    Hi

Would recommend Dave O'Donoghue in independent, had him last term and he is excellent, very exam focused and makes the information interesting which is hard as its very borning stuff.

The independent lecturers appear to have an excellent name in general, I asked on another thread about who to go to for P2 and Liam Doran's name came up again and again as did Shane O'Grady for P1 and P3.

(Best of luck to all on Monday)

where are these threads as this is not what I am hearing - fair enough Liam has a good rep but the others are less universally popular.
Sure you don't have a relationship with them as sounds unusually favourable to one provider.

Agree with lummix, if Shaun Browne is doing course in BPP go with him! BPP bring over from England to teach course. He is past marker of the paper and is great for exam technique!

    Hector Holmes,

I'v no relationship with independent except for attending P7 lectures there last sitting and passing the exam.

You can see my thread on page 3 entitled P2 Lectures last posted on 09/08/09 (I'm not very tecky and dont know how to show a link) where I asked for recommendations for P2 and you can read the advise given there which is what I reiterated in my comments.

People will make up their own minds on who to go to lecture I've just given my personal experience which is what the op asked for.

    Hi,

I am looking for some non biased advise re: choosing which college to attend for Financial Reporting F7 December exam. I am trying to decide between BPP and Independent. The lecturers in question are David Ahern in BPP, and Dave O'Donoghue in Independent Colleges.

I would be grateful of any advise or info.

    Kind Regards,

    Michael

    Hey Michael,

I failed F7 with D Ahern. I'm not saying that D Ahern isn't a good lecturer but I found his methods very long winded and when it came to doing the exam with the time constraints I just ran out of time completely!

I've done lots of research and asked lots of people and Dave O'Donoghue seems to be the way to go and that's what I'm doing.

    Thanks for the reply.

I think I'm siding with Dave O'Donoghue also. Have only heard positive feedback for him.

    Thanks again.

Definitely Shaun Browne at BPP - a friend of mine had him for December and said he was brill - makes audit really interesting ;)

Join date Feb 2012; two posts; two recommendations for BPP? What's your 'Friends' name? This cheap form of advertising adopted by different colleges is really tacky!

To be fair to the guy who recommended Shaun Browne, I'd definitely second that. He makes a seriously dry subject, fairly interesting.

I am trying P7 in Griffith, hope she is good.

Shaun browne while entertaining is too glib and brief, maybe take him for revision but go elsewhere for real exam prep...he spends far too long talking about his other businesses, apathy etc
