No this is on analogue cable (FM feed). BBC radio 4 is perfectly fine which also odd, when one goes they all go as a rule.

I have never had any loss of 5 Live reception on analogue.

Up until it went in August, we had a good long run without any problems. I'm hoping they go on a similar run again.
I have never had any loss of 5 Live reception on analogue.

I think it was just in Waterford, the rest of the country seems ok.

How are your analogue TV channels?

I dunno, you see I quit NTL a while back - the FM radio feed is leakage from next door.:)

Does anyone else find that the incoming volume of R5 live is far too high?

There was a time when it was possible to actually talk to the guys who looked after the radio side of things in NTL - halcyon days indeed.

About 18 months ago I tried to raise the volume (pardon the pun) issue with UPC - I would have a greater chance of talking to Barrack Obama than getting anyone in UPC who actually knew that there were radio channels available:)

so let me get this straight. You're NOT subscribing and you're complaining about their service?:D

Yep, just cos I'm not paying it doesn't mean others aren't and have been missing a service they are paying for (but are getting Smile TV and Buzz for their pains!)

Doesn't mean he cannot comment when a service is down does it.

Maybe your neighbours are doing something to block your signal to prevent you taking a service they are paying for.

I dunno why people are having a go at me, its not like stealing bandwidth. Its pure overspill/leakage that I happen to be able to exploit with nothing more than a length of co-ax.

If I tune my radio and find 5 live on the FM band I should not store it becuase of a **** installation by Cablelink years ago? You would swear he stuck a length of coax into next doors cable line the way some people are reacting.

Listening to Cable leakage of the radio services in not illegal or theft !

Take it a step further - I am listening to BBC R2 on 90.1 - I am listening to the Divis TX or UPC relay (yes I know there is the 1sec delay and unprocessed audio to differentiate the services)

My biggest issue with the leakage is that its so bad in certain areas that it interferes with legitimate reception on R1/2/3 etc and due to the 1 second delay (as the UPC feed is off astra) listening becomes intolerable

but to quote from mike 65's previous post "Its pure overspill/leakage that I happen to be able to exploit with nothing more than a length of co-ax. "

His neighbours could have cut access to this or be using some equipment that is disrupting the signal, perhaps unintentionally. What I do not see, is how it is upc's fault that he can no longer get 5 live, when no other poster has reported a similar problem and he is not paying for same?

You appear to think I'm directly tapping into the NTL/UPC cabling.

The co-ax is plugged into the FM input on the receiver and routed into the attic where it picks up the leakage like an aerial

I am not trying to suggest anything illegal on your part just trying to clarify the full details of the problem that seems to be unique to you. Upc are upgrading their cable infrastructure. if this happened recently in your area, this could have affected signal leakage. I wonder if the recent upgrade of security settings or the set-top-box card swap could have been responsible? I know that analogue services have been phased out in some areas.

    According to Mike.

Bottom line is he's not connected so anything is possible. But, again, complaining about something you're not paying for......sheesh!:D
