Might stay up and watch it if I can find a decent stream.

Never heard of any of the combatants except Gegard Mousasi.

The first time two ladies have ever headlined a major MMA event so I'd be looking forward to seeing them in action.

I will watch it tomorrow. Live streams are a waste of time as far as i'm concerned.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Yeah but if you torrent the fights you know by the length of the files when they end.
    Huge spoilers.

Never a problem for me as the shows are scheduled to run a certain length of time anyway. I never bother getting individual fights.

    +1

Last time i saw a stream, it was some fool with a very bad web cam pointed at the TV, with him and his pals screaming for elbows ever 5 seconds :D

I'll watch it on a stream never had problems with streams.

    Predictions
Cyborg - much better fighter then Carano
    Mousasi
    Ishida
    Hieron
    Werdum

Is there some where you can get good quality videos after fights happen for free? Someone mentioned torrents?
I've only been able to find alright quality ones but they suck for watching fights as the good bits involves very fast motion (mma core in case anyone is interested).

This show could have been so much bigger. Four or five drop-outs from the original card. I'm still looking forward to it though and I hope that it comes across well so that CBS are still interested in broadcasting some MMA

I know that the smart money is on Cyborg, but with the pace that she sets and this being a 25 minute fight compared to the 9 minute fights that she's used to, I think that if Gina can just weather the early storm then she'll have a heavy advantage. Gina looks to be in her best shape ever, no problems with cutting weight. I hope that the length of the fight doesn't work against how exciting the womens fights usually are

Mousasi and Babalu should be good. I think that people are underestimating Babalu, although I still expect Mousasi to win

Werdum weighed in about 30lbs lighter than in his last fight. I don't know why that might be, but it shouldn't affect him too much because his opponent is only 219lbs

Hieron vs Taylor isn't on the main card now, but I'd still like to see it

UFC 101 over SopCast was like watching it on TV.

Both girls made weight, be interesting to see how it plays out if it goes the distance. I'd still fancy cyborg to get it done early enough though

Babalu, Ishida, and Werdom to win the other fights

On a 40" screen I would doubt it.

    LOL obviously

I meant it streamed perfectly without interruption.

    It was perfect.

If the Gina/Cyborg fight goes to 3rd/4th/5th rounds it is going to be terrible to watch. Both will struggle with the extra rounds and the longer rounds IMO.

I give Babalu a very good chance of beating Mousasi but Mousasi edges it for me.

On Werdum's weight he looked terribly out of shape in his last fight against Dos Santos, so that could be down to him working hard on his conditioning.

They're airing some unaired fights as well as Akiyama vs Belcher and Brock vs Mir, although it will probably be over before Strikeforce's main event

It'll hardly affect Strikeforce that much though, they won't be getting that many people watching their show

I think I will watch it, still up late working and wide awake...

Yeah going to watch it know, just starting.

A mod should put a spoiler in the title, until then I'd say it's best to use spoiler tags.

This is the first time I've seen strikeforce. It's ok, seems a bit like something from the 80s...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

The how the fight will finish piece is terrible.

He is the real deal. Like Henderson, Anderson Silva, Frankiln he can fight at MW and LHW. I think he can take Silva.

    Impressive win.

The show has been only on for 1hr 15mins and the main event is already on and I doubt it will go the distance. You'd think they would show an undercard fight before the main event. Mousasi does look to be able to compete with anybody.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,382 ✭✭✭✭AARRRGH

I should have gone with my instinct and put money on that fight.

    Impressive!

    Ah man. :(

    I still love her.

It was a good fight, I'd defo be into watching more female MMA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Cyborg just to good for Carano, good stoppage. Both of Cyborg's takedowns left Gina in mount or half guard and she had a chance to put the hooks in and take the back but she stood back up even though she has better BJJ? I can't understand that.

    Love
the internet turning on Gina with "the female Kimbo" and the like.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

Dominating performance from Cyborg. LOL at the commentators attempt at making a big deal over the timing of the stoppage.

I know Josh was clearly in there waving before the bell imo,

Mods can we get a spoiler tag in the title please

It is likely both knew they couldnt go the distance and just went at it. Both of them gassed in about 2 minutes. Great fight it has to be said.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,587 ✭✭✭Xinkai

Any links to a replay stream?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

The main event was a great fight, I wasn't really up for either girl before the fight but I really wanted Gina to win it once it started. Cyborg just hit her too hard too many times

Mousasi did great, a perfect performance

Ishida couldn't cope with Melendez's strength it seemed

I was surprised to see Yuji Shimada ref the Werdum fight. I suppose he needs to find something to keep him busy with HUSTLE apparently on its last legs

When can we talk about what happened without it being "spoilered" out??

Is there even a remote chance Aishling Daly will be a part of one of the two women's tournments coming up?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,803 ✭✭✭dunkamania

    Title amended, so now

Was quite disappointed with the main event. Gina kept going for headlocks for some reason, then Cyborg would move to the back, looking for a takedown, and end up pulling half guard. I thought the fight was over at one point, than Cyborg backed off, and gave gina a chance to recover.

I thought the rest of the show looked great

Mousassi made Babalu look like a first timer, so relaxed, Fedor Like.

anyone got any purse break downs for this show? Or can tell me how much they made including bonues?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,803 ✭✭✭dunkamania

not yet, but given the larger tv audience, i would say most of the compensation is sponsor based

    Kinda felt bad for Carano.
The ring announcer was hyping her up with crazy sh1t like "one of the most recognised female sports stars in the world".

I never heard of her until 2 weeks ago.
Then again what do i know? The only famous female athletes performing right now that I can think of are the Williams sisters.
Cathy Freeman - she still around? Michelle de Bruin, lol. Oh yeah the British runner than looks liek Ms Dynamite. what's her name?
