A bit of a rant

Don't believe anything you hear about the travel industry in Ireland going down the tubes - it's not true, based on my experience anyway.
I wanted to book a break away for the family and wanted a self-catering apartment. For July & August most places will only rent by the week but revert back to nightly rentals from Spetember onwards which is fair enough. I went through lots of websites and came across a place whose online booking system showed it had 30% vacancy for this weekend. I rang up chancing my arm and ask for a weekend rental even though it's suposed to be weekly this time of year. I was sure they'd take my booking but no such luck. The receptionist admitted they had 7 apartments free this weekend but under no circumstances could she do a weekend let. They change to 2 night minimum rentals next week! I asked for the manager who was unavailable and so left a message for him to ring me back which he never did. Just out of curiosity I called today and asked if they had any vacancies - at least 3 apartments were free and no they still wouldn't do a weekend let!
    Rant over!!!
