    Hi,

Thanks for reading this post, I'm sure there have been questions on here before a good bit like mine. If you are really enthused about the ipod touch, or if you really hate it, I hope you don't mind answering again.

Is itunes really all that good? I've heard differing reports about it. is it easy to use?

I have a load of albums in mp3 format on my pc, is it easy to get them onto the ipod?

What are the main pros and cons to the ipod touch?

They can be got direct from apple for about 200euro now, so I'm more tempted than ever to take the plunge.

    Many thanks,

    W

Haven't got a touch myself, just a classic

Yes, itunes is simple to use, and i thijnk it would classify as good

No problem with the mp3 albums. Very simple operation getting them into the itunes library

Pro's and Con's. Have used one a little bit but the obvious pro's are how easy it is to use, the integrated wifi, the obvious things
Con's, small capacity, middling audio quality, the stubby thumbs problem

Finally, WAIT!. The next generation of ipods will be announced on September 7th and will be then available almost immediately.

    Pro's
    -Good battery life
    -Lots of apps
    -Wifi
    -Very nice UI, fast, responsive
    -Thin, light
-Tonnes and tonnes of compatible extras, accessories, etc

    Cons
-Average (or even crappy?) sound quality
-Crappy bundled earphones (bit scabby on an expensive device)
-Screen too small to do any serious web browsing
-Screen aspect ratio not suited to films/tv
    -No Xvid support

And i'd echo Zonda's sentiment, you may as well wait until Sep 7th to see what the new models are like. Usually what happens is they introduce a new capacity (64GB this time) and then lower the prices of all the other capacities. Think it'll have a camera as well.

before youy buy just take a look at the Cowon S9.

It dosen't have wifi, but does have bluetooth, and plays a shed load of formats.

Audio quality is second to none.

There are 2 types of people in my opinion, apple lovers and apple hate-ers! I work with a guy who has some cheap mp3 player and uses windows explorer to load music on and of and he thinks Itunes is a disaster. He says Itunes uses to much of the computers processing power where as windows explorer does not. And he's right, however, if like most computer users and you have 2GB Ram, runinng Vista or XP, you won't notice this - well i don't! Also ITunes has a good UI, easy to use (although people who can't be bothered figuring it out or asking questions here think its terrible) and ideal if you hook it up to your stereo to play playlist, DJ etc.

I've had all the Ipods so far from Classic to Iphone, and the Ipod Touch was a leap in technology from the classic.

    Pro's
Reasonable sized screen to watch video - i rip family guy to watch on the plane!
Wi-fi, you can do full web browsing (except flash)
you can install eirtext or jellysms to send texts when in a wifi zone
You can get a mic and install skype
You can get an FM transmitter and listen to it in the car
    Oh, and it plays music!!!

    cons
We'll i did mind it a bit to stat with, it will eventually get scratched
If you don't like the earphones, get your own!
Size may be an issue, but you can load music on and off the ipod.

Screen is brilliant for web browsing. Never seen any other mobile device come close.

I'll second this. I've almost completely stopped using my laptop at home in favour of my IPT.

 What?! I just bought one :( I love it though. It is an amazing piece of kit. Easy and very fun to use. Plus it's shiny.

If you do buy one, get a good case and a screen protector. You don't want your lovely new gadget spoiled with a scratched screen or scuffed back.
