I tested my eircom landline for smart broadband and my landline failed. It then tells me i can get their nationwide bitstream products...what are these? are they fast like actual broadband?

Bistream is Eircom's name for their slow crappy services that others also resell, including Smart. In other areas where LLU has taken place, faster non-Eircom services are available.

What is LLU? so in this case the smart bitstream product is actually eircom in disguise?

    LLU is local loop unbundling.

Bistream is companies selling ADSL packages partially using Eircom's equipment.

ALL DSL services provided outside of the very few LLU exchanges are just Eircom DSL wholesaled to Smart/BT/Whoever.

Is Eircom dsl a bad service generally? i've read on boards that most houses can only really take an eircom 3mb connection to be stable. The eircom 7mb lines tend to erratic in broadband quality...is this true?
