Lots of people I know believe that MIMS is rubbish. While I personally prefer the BNF, I don't understand what the problem with MIMS is. Are there lots of mistakes, or do they just dislike the layout. Any clarification would be great, thanks.

mims is grand if you want to look up a dose or look up something by brand name - its easier to use mims for that.

however, bnf gives much more details re side-effects, indications and potential interactions.

Thanks! I have both (my friend's a pharmacist), but could never get anyone to clarify why people seem to generally like the BNF more.

There's also the small matter that MIMS is stufffed with ads for brand name medications.

    Its all the trade names....horrible

But useful for drugs in the Irish context, drugs approved by Irish Sports council, products withdrawn....

Main reason for using MIMs: is it available on the GMS? Is it OTC?
