Just wish to express my thanks to a few Garda who caught the joyriders in my estate last night, they have been causing havoc in our estate for a few weeks now, and you guys put your safety and neck on the line last night as these guys were going hell for leather to get away from you. You guys know who you are so thanks from the residents of Killinarden in Dublin. The car in question was a white fiesta.

From listening to the radio (tetra) there is probably a chase a night in talaght. sometimes three or four. Generally they catch them.

Helicopter is a great asset to the tallaght gardai.

Im sure i saw a post here recently about somebody from tallaght giving out about the helicopter keeping them awake at night.

God if only they knew what went on in Tallaght 24 hours a day!!

I'm no expert, but to me a few weeks seems an awfully long time to catch a few joyriders.
I'd be interested in learning what sort of preparation is required in order to nab these guys.

I posted in that thread, but wasn't giving out. I spend a few nights a week there, but I live in a nice little quite sea port. When people ask me if I happy I moved out of Dublin, I alway make the same point as I did in that thread.

When I'm locking up the bike at night at home all I can hear is the sea, whereas when I'm down in the GF's locking up all I hear it the chopper.

I don't really have any problems with its presence, as I work for the Addiction Services in Tallaght, so I have a good sense of what the natives are up to after dusk.

Just to add thanks to this...

Three Fridays ago, 31st July, a stolen car crashed into my mothers car in the front garden of our house, if it wasn't for the wheelie bin being in front of the car I think the car would have been shunted into the front window of our house...

The Garda arrived two seconds after it happened (a neighbour had already called) and caught the little scumbags that done it. Unfortunately the scumbags have gotten away scott free because they are underage. Typical of where we live. But fair play to the Gardai.

If you had the time, it would be brilliant if you sent a short letter to the superintendent in tallaght garda station stating your thanks to the gardai involved. Its always nice when you get a letter of thanks from the public sent through your bosses. It always makes the members feel appreciated.

For the original poster if they take up djtechnics idea it would be greatly appreciated by all involved. it's nice to get a compliment instead most correspondence is complaints as people never take the time to say job well done but compliants are always sent on.

Glad to hear it's a job well done by the lads in the MA.

Tallaght is a massive district with around 190,000 people living in it, policed by one station. There is next to no time to lie up & wait for such joyriders as cars are going from one call to the next.

Consider it done Dj it will be posted first thing Monday morning, and will be signed by numerous residents from my area. Once again thank you.

Got to agree with you here, i have noticed a big difference in the past 6 months or so, regular patrols and Garda taking a no nonsense approach. As i said above delighted to see it happen and it keeps the little scumbags under a watchful eye. Garda have got bad press around our areas in years gone by, its about time someone gave them a little bit of thanks for what must be a near impossible job with all the little loopholes in this country protecting the little feckers. Fair dues lads and keep up the good work it is appreciated.
