applying for a Setanta subscription

    Sorry, I'd say most are sick of Setanta discussion at this stage as I am too but I've been a subscriber since they started, not sure how long, 5 years maybe?
    I always paid yearly through my credit card and the payment always came off my credit card at the beginning of July every year and thankfully nothing came off this year and I expecting some sort of correspondance from them as regards keeping up my sub, maybe offering me a reduced rate for loyalty :D What happens next? I got cut off yesterday!!
    I tried ringing them twice today, on both occasions on hold for an hour, seriously frustrating!! I then tried to subscribe online and after I put my viewing card in it came up on screen that there is a problem as I either already subscribe or have recently cancelled and to ring the number I was on hold to all day!
    Are they in earnest, its some set up I have to say, real Mickey Mouse stuff, and after all this when I do eventually get through to them they're gonna charge me €16.99 a month!!
    Thats my rant over... for now, I'm away to get the ears burnt off me holding again for one more time!

    Got a mailshot from them yesterday. Asking me to start up another sub after cancelling. They said that they would do it for the first three months at 10/month with no reconnection charge provided i placed an order by the 13th. The letter arrived on the 14th :D
    Having said that, i'd imagine they will honour that going by the deals others have done with them here.

    If i go to subscribe again, whats the payment option that i should pick thats easiest to get out from under them the next time i want to cancel??

    Do you feel you deserve to pay less than everyone else?

    Eventually got through this morning to them, they tell me that the reason I was cut off was the credit card details they had on file for me had an date that was expired and they could'nt take the payment out which is crap as my expiry date changed twice before and they still took the payment out every July but I have to be thankful because they would've taken €240 out of it then and I would'nt have much hope of getting the balance refunded. Nevertheless I still should've been informed of the new terms etc and they tell me a letter is "probably" in the post offering me the new "greatly reduced" deal. After a little haggling I was offered the next 3 months at €10.99 and if I rang back in 2 months time I might be offered another 3 months at the same rate so a bit of a result there.

    @Mossy Monk,
    What is the story with the snide remarks, many others have posted their negative views on the new pricing policy of Setanta, most recently on this thread here:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055641050
    And I did'nt see you criticising any of them, I don't be trawling through threads looking to criticise others posts, I thought we are here to help each other?

    @Eurorunner
    Go the direct debit route, it the easiest to cancel and if they mess you about you can simpy cancel the direct debit, its a lot less complicated than paying through your credit card, well thats my own experience with it anyway

    Your post looked like you were complaining about the new price because you are a long standing Setanta customer.

    at €16.99 a month, setanta is clearly waaaaaaaaaay overpriced. I'd say €5-6 per month max is what their one package of 3pm kickoffs is worth.

    Eh... yes I was complaining about the new price along with the content and customer service and so what if i was?
    I have been a loyal subscriber of Setanta from they started broadcasting here even before they had a monthly charge when they had a few pay per view events, never once had I rang them previous to this looking for a reduced price or had any issues with them, all I expected in return was a bit of correspondance and customer service which I did'nt get and I'm sure many many others are in the same position as me and have similar thoughts as me, its not like I think I am a special case as your tone suggests.

    Hi
    Hate to hijack the thread but I agreed a deal with Setanta at the end of may for 10.99 for 6 months. However shortly after thy went out of business and stopped taking any payment. I still have setanta but havent paid anything since may. Anyone got any idea whats going on. Will I have to pay if they realise the mistake or can I claim their not providing the service I agreed to in may and cancel.

    If they are not charging then I would keep quiet and cancel your direct debit just in case they do decide that you should pay.

    16.99 is far to much for this service. I wonder how many actual subscribers they have now?
