English Premiership Betting 15/16 August

    Hello

I know betting on the first day of the season is risky, but I'm in the mood to make a bet, so I'm going to throw a small amount on a game tomorrow.

I am going to put €40 on Fulham to beat Portsmouth @ 15/8 or better.

    This is my logic:
    1. Fulham's season really began over two weeks ago with their Europa Cup games. This will give them a slight fitness edge.
    2. Fulham destroyed their Europa Cup opposition, so their confidence will be ok.
    3. Fulham are a good defensive team, with reasonable strikers. Portsmouth recently sold their best players, including their two strikers.
    4. Fulham have a good manager, whereas Portsmouth are currently a bit in disarray.

Based on the above, I see Fulham winning 0 - 2.

Are you making any bets this weekend?

I'm thinking of putting €100 on chelsea ht/ft @1.62 on betfair. Would that be wise?

I am betting on the draw in the Fulham match in my only real bet of the season based on the following facts.

Portsmouth aren't as **** as everyone says
Fulham have never won more than 3 games away from home in the last 3 seasons.
Money on the draw and 0-0

I personally don't like ht/ft bets as you can lose the bet within 45 minutes. :)

But if you want a free €20/€30 you could just stick it on the Chelsea win...

    My Accum for the weekend

Fulham @ 7/4 v pompey (imo bet of the weekend)
    Chelsea @ 2/11 v Hull (free money)
Aston Villa @ 4/6 v Wigan ( think wigan have lost alot of players and will struggle)
Man City @ 6/5 v Blackburn (will be a tough match although city havent set the world alight in pre season think they will have too much up front for big sam)

    €10 stake, return of €119.17

Think liverpool are also a very good price at 13/10 but i dont like spreading the bet over the saturday and sunday

Not strictly premier league, but can be if you wish. In Ladbrokes today and spotted a coupon i hadn't seen before. Don't usually go for coupons but had a bash at this one "Goal Rush".
You make up to 8 selections (matches) from the premier league, championship, league 1, Scots Prem. Bundesliga and Ligue 1 (i think). Both teams in each game must score, all teams score, you win. This is a fixed odds coupon and as i said, you can choose up to 8 games. For example, 5 selections was 28/1.
Anyhoo, i went for the 8 to start with and want both teams to score in the games tomorrow at Barnsley, Blackpool, Ipswich,Colchester, Millwall, Stockport, Walsall and St. Johnstone at odds of 70/1.
Probably tweak the number of selections over the weeks.
    Best of luck to everyone.

I've gone for an Acca of:

    Portsmouth v Fulham

    Bolton v Sunderland Draw

    Blackburn v Man City

Aston Villa v Wigan Athletic Draw

    About 67/1 i think! Fingers crossed :o

This looks the best bet of the lot.

Fulham are rubbish away from home as are Man City so that's 2 to avoid especially on the first day of the season where home teams have an edge as their fans are gone scatty.

I actually went for a treble on Stoke, Sheffield Utd and Celtic

I've looked at this bet before and trust me, it is extremely hard to pick 2 teams both to score let alone 8 matches
One big odds on team to score and the odds against the underdog scoring is around 2/1.
Pick 2 teams that are close and it's around 11/10 each of them.
Work out the 16 selection odds (8 matches x 2 teams) and see what that works to be and 99% of the time, it will be more then the bookies are
    offering.

One pointer for anybody doing PL bets this weekend, both Boylers and Powers are giving Money Back if any game ends 0-0.
Boyles is a free bet to the same stake, Powers is cash back.

    Huh?

Defensively they're great. They might not bang in the goals on their travels but they could easily sneak 1 in against what could be a very poor pompey side.

I think under 2.5 in that game is a decent bet.

All three bets are risky IMO.

I can see Man C losing, Arsenal losing, and Liverpool drawing...

Bookies have it sewn up hard to get an edge on them, Hull are the worst team in the league by a mile, Arsenal draw 0-0 at home a lot against weaker teams, also lay fav matches between the big 4, up a lot in last 2 seasons

PP will give u your money back if the game finishes 0-0 so im backing fulham, cant see them conceding but would agree a 0-0 draw is a possibility

Two small bets on the Chelsea/Hull match, just for the sake of it really.

    HT/FT - draw/Chelsa @ 5.0 Betfair.
Anelka and 1-0 @ 25.0, also on Betfair.

Have the same, without Man Utd, @ 6/1. Roll on 7PM hopefully! :)

Just checked up on this, it was actually @ 6.4, not as high as I'd thought! :( Still, as Liverpool were the last team I needed, I effectively had them @ 6.4, so just laid them @ 2.38 on Betfair now, guaranteed profit at a return @ 2.5 regardless of the outcome in the match. :)

Might be worth considering if Man see off Birmingham (which they should).

im actually not gonna win much from this bet as i took crappier odds with the safety net of a the 'draw no bet' and they are all singles, not an accumulator...a profit is a profit tho i guess
